Yeah they're not winning many fans with their 3V pricing, especially after waiting years for them to come out in A2, which never happened. But, their 3V Recon Scout was recently available for $200 at one dealer, compared to the $475 msrp, so who knows.
I don't think A2 is the ideal choice, although it's probably better than leaf spring steel

Even before the recent corporate takeover, CS always seemed to have this model where when something new came out, it would retail at around 15% off MSRP, but then over time, they'd become available at more like 40% off, and even lower in some places. If these large 3V blades stick around, I'd expect them eventually to be obtainable for reasonable prices, if not bargain ones.

And in all seriousness, I did use to have one of the CS kukris in carbon steel and, with the full height grind, it was actually a pretty nimble blade with a relatively fine edge. If you can stabilize the handle and the 3V heat treat is OK, I'd expect these new ones to be a decent knife, but more of a quick, slashy blade than a heavy chopper. And I certainly wouldn't pay anything close to the MSRP for one.

I've never had a problem with the handle on mine, but after seeing multiple videos of handle problems I started my search for full tang kuks

Cold steel MSRP prices are a joke! I do not know what kind of dreamworld they are living on, but it is obvious that the new takeovers of the company do not know much about the knife world. The street price of this would be not more than 300-350 and even at that point they would struggle to sell it due it's crappy sheath and handle which is a massive additional cost to replace with aftermarket alternatives.

Have CS's MSRP ever reflected their actual street prices? Even on brand new releases, the street prices from vendors are usually a fair bit under MSRP. They tend to drop even lower from there on.

Anyone buying direct from their website deserves to pay that MSRP if they're clueless about checking prices elsewhere, lol.

No, MSRP prices mostly did not reflect the street prices for most of the firms. But the difference between the two was never this much. If I recall correctly, I saw CS Trailmaster in 3V selling less than half of the MSRP from a well known major dealer. To me, this obviously shows that the new takeovers of the firm are not very familiar with knife sales scenary. If you could find the pre 3V MSRP prices of the CS you will see what I mean. The new takeovers just changed the steel to 3V and sky rocketed the prices and then it becomes the vendor's task to readjust it to reasonable levels for the products to sell. All this does not make any sense to me.

Maybe that's their 'impulse buyer' marketing model? MSRP through the roof, expecting vendors to post street prices around 50-60% so prospective buyers check the CS website and go, "Whoa! I'm getting a DEAL if I buy it from xxx.com!", and jump, thereby driving overall sales.

Yeah, maybe, perhaps targeting those new to the knife industry as a buyer.

I'm wrapping up a bunch of knives at the moment, and preparing for another bunch, (still a stack of leather to work on, too). This khuk just got some nice center scribe lines tonight so I guess it's happening
I thought it would be cool to weigh it and maybe at points along the way for shits and giggles. So, here it is cut to profile...at 1 kilo! Heavy stuff

I'll post up more pictures as I proceed, if anyone's interested
