Cpm-m4 556 - Update - Broken Spring.

I was using an old gunsmith's kit. I bought a new set with individual drivers that are teflon coated. No chance of scratching the coating.

It's such light torque it doesn't really matter though.

Kevin

Thanks.

When you guys take them apart do you use the Benchmade tool you can buy or just regular bits? I think its kind of odd for them to sell a tool to take them apart if they don't want you to take them apart.:D

There is actually a little disclaimer in the Blue box tool kit that basically says disassembly will void the warranty and the kit is only used to adjust the pivot and tighten any screws that may come loose.

I have one and the bits are complete junk I'd recommend something else.

The best drivers you can buy are probably Wiha. They are significantly more expensive than most brands, but they seem to be the ones that are true to size and are hardened correctly.

Thanks. I never heard of them but will look them up. Most of my bits need to be updated anyhow as they are worn out.

Wanted to second this, Wiha is the way to go. I just received the Boker Torx Toolkit which is apparently made by Wiha (the handle and the bits are all marked Wiha). The machining on the bits is exceptional, literally on a whole other level compared to the cheaply made Torx sets I've had in the past including the very disappointing and poorly made bits in the Benchmade blue box tool kit. This is important to me as not only will the tool last longer but you're less likely to damage or round out the screw heads over time.

For anyone looking at a set of Torx drivers the answer is Wiha. I've kept my Blue Box but have replaced all the bits with these.

You may want to update the original post as this is confusing with "broken spring"in the thread title and no mention of it at all until like page 7.
