CPM-S110V - What do ya think?

What you said is misinformation.
It's not brittle.

It's not impossible to sharpen either, you just have to know how to sharpen.

I dont know much about steel. Im learning more... but that video.... Why does he stop the video right when the dull part of the blade hits the paper...? It stopps cutting well and smooth, then the video ends.

Once again, i dont know steel. But that video is odd. Its like someone saying they can do a full backflip, then video ends with him in mid air.

Discuss the knives- Not each other. There are other ways of conveying your message than insulting other members.
The same goes for others.

It's because the guy filming knew that he just proved himself wrong, that the blade did chip out and was unable to slice the paper, so he stopped the video to prevent further embarrassment to himself.

L Leo3an While yes the video does seem to stop about where the blade would see issues from cutting the penny we can't assume that the blade was chipped it could have also rolled or been blunted or dulled in a fashion other than chipping. We really can't even assume the edge was dulled in any sense as nothing in the video shows that the edge was damage, dulled, or still sharp. The video is poor proof of really anything other than that you can chop a penny with S110V.

Huh? I do not understand.. I do not know what chips and doesnt. i have very limited knowledge on steels, as I am new. Im not talking about the steel hardness or whatever.. i dont know it. Im talking about the video editing/how he is cutting.

Im saying the he is stopping too early cutting out the point of the video. Like... it seems like he is saying the knife stays sharp even after whacking a penny... But he literally stops cutting where it hit the penny and just goes “uh huh. Thats right. It is still super sharp. Better believe it folks”... why not actually show it cutting well buy showing the actual important part of the blade cutting it??? Instead of stopping in the middle of cutting where it hangs...maybe im missing something.

Ah thank you. I thought the video was trying to proove something.. i dont know rolling vs chipping. I just thought video seemed off.

Actually i doubt that. He would have not uploaded the video at all. Im saying he just doesnt show the important bit in the video.

L Leo3an The video I think is trying to prove the toughness and reliability of S110V but it really doesn't due to poor editing and/or testing this just means the video maker either had an agenda and made it appear he succeeded or is just too dumb to do things properly.

Ah thank you. Understood.

I had an s110v PM2 that chipped opening a cat food can but after I sharpened it out it never happened again.

It is Copper -plated Zinc , right ? It looks like it was standing in the forge fire whole month ... ...look like it was burnt . Yes we can assume , he know what he was doing and that he must show result.....Why he did not repeat cut on paper ?

because I hurt your feelings? That's not how it works, sorry.

Yes, the rumors are true that Buck has poor quality control. And Spyderco openly colludes with knife retailers to fix prices to help establish a monopoly. That is textbook corruption.
QUOTE so when you actually figure it out you'll see for yourself the nonsense tour spewing.

I’ve had the Manix 2LW in S110V
for I guess 3 years now and I’ve come to appreciate this steel.

It can be difficult to sharpen especially if you don’t sharpen much but for guys who have experience with various steels S110V can be just a bit more time consuming.

I have tried maybe a half dozen different ways to sharpen it and still have not found a way that I’m totally happy with.
Right now once I get a burr off the 400 plate I just go with diamond compound 14 micron down to 1 and it is a nice edge.

I’m glad S110V is no longer the flavor of the month as I may be able to pickup some other models to try out.

I think people who are up to speed understood the video properly. You are just not one of them
