CPM-S110V - What do ya think?

Haha agree to disagree but hear me out.

I tried the green chrome, from bark river to no name to expensive AF koyo brand even just the raw green powder which works best on leather since you don't gunk up the leather with wax and it spreads evenly, no clumpy streaks from crayoning on waxy sticks that are made for buffing wheels.

I found that 1 micron diamond gives a better bite to the edge and it's especially noticeable on super steels to a discerning sharpener.
I use the green chrome powder for straight razors because it makes a smoother edge, less bite, more comfortable, but I found the green to be less effective for other applications in comparison to the diamond.

I sharpen kitchen knives on waterstones and I make hunting knives.
Here is a video of my results with my hunter
I load the Green Chrome on a Sisal/Cotton wheel and buff 3400 rpm..

This thread started great then...WOW! Thanks to the mods for getting it back on track!!!

Anyways super stoked here, I have a PM2 110 on its way(delivery date jan 27). I wanted to get out of my S30 and S35 rut and try something new. I have a few tough to sharpen blades in elmax, D2 and what not but I kept looking at the cut test thread and the steel just amazed me how it was performing. I am not worried about chipping its not going to be hard use I have plenty of s30 and 35 blades to use for tough tasks.

I currently sharpen on wet stones and see that you guys say you need diamond so I will have to upgrade which I dont mind since i recently started making my own blades and an upgrade would be welcomed for a more uniform bevel and edge. I think i have decided on a wicked edge so it will be fun to see how this goes. I know S110V is a beast but im game. It cant take longer than cutting a new bevel and edge in by hand on freshly forged bearing race 52100.

Actually, s110v will take significantly longer to sharpen than 52100. Not more difficult, but more time consuming. Just don't let it go super dull to begin with and you should be alright.

HAHA ya I know it will take a lot longer.

I get a few industrial bearings for free from work whenever my machinist buddies rebuild a pump or motor so its what I have on hand to try forging. Thus I was just saying that my first attempt at making a knife I took a piece of 52100 with no edge no bevel no nothing and used a file to shape it into knife form. That took a very long time so I think I have the patience for it.

Luckily I built a grinder and dont have to do that anymore! :-)

If Spyderco had put red G-10 scales on their S110V knives we wouldn't be having this silly discussion. :D
