$499 including shipping and no sales tax for a NIB Zaan is not scalping.

Plus in many cases, I've had a better experience buying from a trusted seller here in the Exchange, with good photos of a specific knife, than buying from some dealers.

Most here know how much I dislike flippers, but there are a lot of good sellers on the Exchange.

Now, you do you, of course, NP, but putting all BF sellers in the same box is wrong.
Completely agree. I do only buy second hand here on the exchange. I also will add an extra $10 when I want it fully insured for the purchase amount.

I’ve also found the sellers here to give very accurate descriptions of the conditions of the knife. It’s excellent for finding hard to find knives like the Zaan. I also have found that buying second hand at usually discounted prices are great if you don’t like the knife because you can turn around and sell it for the same price and not take a loss.

The exchange has been great and haven’t had a single problem yet.

I would agree that it isn't scalping, but I would say it is without a doubt, overpriced. $550 would be funny. $600 insane. More than that would be foolish. Of course, there might be a few wealthy folks on the forum here that can throw money at anything they wish. My congratulations to them.

Everyone would like to buy whatever they like, do whatever they want with it for as long as they prefer, then sell it and get all their money back. These days, it seems people can.

I would not pay $40,900 for a Toyota with 1000 miles on it today on CL if I can buy one for $42K with 10 miles on it, ( brand-new from an authorized dealer) two weeks from now. That is an apt analogy to this phenomena. Personally, I would wait. Lotsa people wouldn't wait.

Your sales tax point is valid. My state doesn't have it, so I didn't consider that. Could make a big difference to most folks.

By the way, I have place nobody in a box. If I've given the impression that I am concerned about how others spend their money, that was not my intention.

Let's get back to discussing knives, fellas. This has gone on long enough.
