Same here, just bought one that was listed for a trade. Another one came up this morning. They’re available, just gotta keep your eyes peeled.I'll let you know if I could ever find one to buy... I see tons of Sebenzas and Inkosis of various sizes, haven't seen an Umnumzaan for sale in a while. Last one I remember seeing was a frag pattern one on monkeyedge that was sold out before I even got to the site
Here, on the exchangeOn which sites? I've only seen Sebenzas and Inkosis in the last few months
Haven't bought or sold used knives in years. Been just buying off dealers. Here, on the exchange
I got one from DLT a couple weeks ago. I've also seen them at GPKnives, KnifeJoy, and a couple others within the past four months. On which sites? I've only seen Sebenzas and Inkosis in the last few months
I got ya, well speaking from experience, a lot of these knives on the exchange are hardly used at all.Haven't bought or sold used knives in years. Been just buying off dealers.
No doubt, definitely see that happening in the future! Now you need the tanto...![]()
I'm saying they have been available on this site. I'm not saying there are hundreds of them...but I've seen several...and bought one of them.Blues Are you saying that NIB Zaans have been available? I check over 30 sites daily and haven't seen one in over a month.
Maybe you know if different dealers than I do?![]()
2There's one in the exchange right now for $499
Thanks. If I'm going to buy at retail prices, then I'm going to wait for NIB. One of those weird guys. There's one in the exchange right now for $499
That's certainly your decision to make.Thanks. If I'm going to buy at retail prices, then I'm going to wait for NIB. One of those weird guys.![]()
I made that exact decision. The supply chain was slow, so there was a steady stream of NIB/LNIB/lightly carried "catch and release" Zaans...mostly at above retail. I didn't want one badly enough to pay more than I could get for it, especially since I anticipated not particularly caring for it.Thanks. It's a personal decision. Don't get me wrong, I will buy an out-of-production item second-hand and I'll pay what I must....if I "need" to have it.I made that exact decision. Instead of checking 30 sites daily, just put yourself on the notification list at a couple of them (I'd recommend choosing less well known dealers, so you'll have a shot at getting there before it's sold)

However, choosing to pay more-than-retail prices for knives that are currently in production, are in an unknown condition, may or may not have warranty coverage, may or may not have a manufacturing flaw, may or may not have the factory edge, may or may not have had parts switched between other items, and may or may not arrive in the mail, with little or no recourse (other than public shaming) is, well, what I consider to be an "interesting" financial choice. Voluntarily increasing my risks and costs doesn't interest me if I can help it.
I have some rules about my toy money and they keep me from living in a van down by the river. I will pay no more than 75% of retail for second hand gear if it can be purchased new by waiting for a bit. I need to curb my impulsivity somehow.
The reason we have scalpers and crazy secondary market prices is because we all choose to support them. Never gonna change though.
Sorry for the thread drift, and I'm not bashing anyone's choices. Just explaining a bit. Probably should have kept my mouth shut.
