Let's let the pry bar idea and the 5 page responses die and get back to the point.

How about a Waki sized Infi blade with a Dog Father (as an option to micarta) Res-C handle. A true one handed saber type sword that doesn't shock the S out of your hand after clearing limbs and brush.

Nice idea. See how easy that is.

It's dead, go tell someone else what to do.

lol.... speaking of random small interest blades, there was that 9" skeleton key that was posted by... who was it... andrew? I remember a deep search to find out if that was a hoax or not, and i don't remember if it was.

either way, a giant canvas micarta scaled skeleton key would be pretty awesome, keep it 1/8" thick, full hollow grind just like the original. you don't even really need the handles, but it would be nice since a 9" blade is a pretty significant hunk of metal in the hand.

now that I think about it, a 9" skeleton key would basically be a pointier hollow ground 3rd gen satin jack...

(preferably without a choil :p)

theres no reason to entice a response like that. Its far better (and constructive) to concentrate on coming up with an interesting mini prybar/multi-tool then to post with such seeming bitterness.

I've only seen the basic prybar with bottle opener that I would personally carry, but theres gotta be a combination hex cutout that would be worth putting in there.

I'd like to see a fat little carry blade, along the lines of an Inactive Duty, with an integrated set of knuckles. Something you could carry discreetly for personal protection, that would be versatile and ready for anything. That would be my Chunky Monkey.

You are right. It is funny my little dumb idea is actually liked by some. I am sorry to come down to that level. The negative responses from a couple of these guys got the better of me.

I would like to see some of the ideas for cool small tools that would seem to make sense for Busse. I think that there has got to be something that could work.

I like your idea. I would carry something like that, but I worry about perceptions from others if you used something like that for personal protection.

I really do like this idea a lot. I would like to see this more than my own idea.

It was originally posted on page 7, but a nuclear meltdown, skeletonized AD is a good idea IMO. How sad? Nuclear Meltdown S.A.D.!?!

Figures... :D So many ideas flooding forth that I'm not surprised that the idea of a skelly AD wasn't already amongst them, but since there are variances between our posts, I'll let mine stand. :)

a hex thing sounds good or maybe a notch in front of a small semi sharp full belly blade like those old school Russian can openers. the ones that take the whole top lip off the can.... or am I just imagining that.

a one piece bottle opener, can opener, mini pry bar, hex tool thing, that may have a small screw driver tip, .. throw a nice big Busse logo on it hang it from your keys. maybe skeletonize it to keep it light. or add a seat belt cutter or flint striker for those who are bushcrafty :)

wish the thing could make coffee too.. sorry guys its getting late here and I'm a bit loopy.

4th design.

Basically a BM but you get to choose your end of blade. So bullet (like some of the protos out there), tanto, seax, bowie, standard or flat (ie the spine just runs flat to the tip). Then throw in the options of penetrator tip, serrations on the tip and or spine, swedge etc.

I think this would work well using the CGFBM frame maybe without the CBT's to make it a little easier although a tanto ended CGFBM with penetrator tip, spine serrations and CBTs would look pretty good I reckon.

How about ..........

1) The Bushwacker mistress handle with the bottom of the exposed tang grounded off to about 1/4" from the bottom of the handle slabs with a 6" blade that is the same profile of the Bushwacker mistress with no choil (maybe a very, very tiny one to aid in sharpening)

2) The Bushwacker mistress as is.

3) A version of the Scrap Yard regulator bowie with a traditional bowie guard (a piece of metal oval in shape with an elongated rectangle in the center through which the tang would go through with the blade having a step on both sides to keep the guard from riding up the blade and the handle slabs keeping it in place from the bottom side) with a full tang not a stick tang like on the Scrap Yard. 6"-9" full flat or saber ground blade in 3/16" thickness. if you wanted to get tricky you could put the talon hole in the front tip of the guard. Very, very small choil on 6" blade regular sized choil if going 7"+

Sorry for being so long winded but this thread is great how often do you get the chance to design your dream Busse!!!

How about a 3/4 scale Scrofa with an almost fully serrated blade (leave the last 3/4" plain edge), serrations like what the shiva rex had. That would be a great utility knife for EDC. I know I would use one every day. Id like one with black canvas micarta for the handle.

Great Idea to have this contest, I can't wait to see what comes out of it.

Busses version of a M3 trench knife would be cool.

.190 stock, around 12.5" OAL., 7" blade, no choil, with 2.5" false edge,
"give or take" on top, GW handle, and the .5" left extended from the handle for beers and skulls and such and not made pointy.:D

Thanks for the contest.:cool::thumbup:

.

Jerry, Amy, Garth, or Kendra, is there a set date the designs are to be selected and the competition starts? Once the designs are picked, is there a set number of days to complete the knives? Just curious. I think there should be "in progress" pictures taken so we can feel like we are involved. :D

.

One more suggestion, how about a knife similar to the WWII U.S.M.C. Bolo, but with some teeth on the top for sawing? This would make a great camp knife, you could chop, dig, saw, hammer and anything else you needed to do. Here is a picture of what I was thinking:

a big +1 to that. and no "two weeks" answers please.

;)

One more idea.

ASH-1 handle and the small & or medium BARF blade. .200 -.220 thick.

I'd like a table set: a fork, a spoon and don't forget a knife. Try to avoid big choils on these ;).

The worse if such an idea is selected is that all the family will want one.

And I'm curious about what would sheath makers imagine to dress the set.
