compact sar4

going with the idea of a smaller sar4, (and adding my aversion to choils), if you took the sar4 and cut away the line going from the top of the choil to the tip of the knife, you could shorten the blade by 1/2" (and make it less tall). To get the handle into balance, Cut off the butt up to the 3rd tube fastener, and increase the index fingers curve to get your hand closer to the edge. you could add another 1/8-1/4" of handle space just by making the index radius smaller leading up to the talon hole.

a wood carving set would be cool, but probably out of the question. thats a lot of small machining to do, BUT you'd be able to nest a ton of them on a single plate.

I'm not going through this whole thread to see if this has been taken, but...

Active Duty Variant, .270" thick at thickest point for a palm swell on the handle, and tapering down both towards the tip and butt.
Skeletonized with nuclear symbol, NM treatment/ball bearing finish along the spine & tang and talon/lanyard holes.
1/2 inch longer blade length than standard AD, saber grind, satin finish.
Either no choil or a choil large enough for the forefinger (choil optional?).
Checker pattern thumb rest on spine & behind finger guard on the tang... not deep, just enough to be grippy.

Name? Busse Skeleton Active Nuclear Duty, (Busse SAND) unless a better name comes along. :D

Busse Chute
basically a SARsquach 1.25" high blade, 6" long, 3/16" thick, half of the top ground edge, and extra long talons on top and bottom to act like a guard to prevent the hand from sliding on to the blade on a stab. Also no choil.

The Busse FCM! (Fusion Combat Mate)

Blade:
7.5" Bowie style blade. Clip running 2/5's of the bladelength.1/4" thick, full flat ground. 2" wide.

Handle:
Slimmed down Fusion handle. Alternatively you can round off the butt. The handle should still be curving out on the bottom for added grip/traction/control.

Additional options: Choil/No choil - Recurve/No recurve - Sharpened/unsharpened clip

A design atleast I would buy! Would be great for everything. Chopping, fighting, slicing... You name it, this will do it!

A 10 or even 15" Busse knife will never have the leverage of a longer pry bar. That angle at the end of the pry bar makes all the difference. So they are great to use like a pry bar, but are never really a pry bar. No one doubts there strength, but your not that cool because you make a point of using a blade as a pry bar. Thanks for simplifying and limiting brainstorming. That is a really helpful method for coming up with new ideas. You probably don't need a screwdriver either.

After seeing inglourius basterds, I say we need a big old fat American Bowie knife with Busse twists galore! "Made for carving nazis!" in a Tennessee twang.

You haven't been around here very long, so we'll forgive you for COMPLETELY missing the joke, and being utterly unaware of the "sharpened prybar" comment we've all heard a million times.

You might want to pry that stick out of your rear end, though...

And another thing - a dedicated prybar is a silly idea for a knife making competition. That's like buying a Lamborghini scooter or a Rolex sundial. I'll gladly "limit brainstorming" to focus our energies on actual knives, and not goofy widgets.

A regulator without res-c would be somehow less special to me. And I'd actually rather see it in satin differentially treated SR-101, just to have that sexy sexy temper line

I'd love to see a wharncliffe rat tail as a chute knife. as long as you could index where the edge was, it's ultra low profile, slim but strong, and with the wharncliff you can use the rounded back to help get under seatbelts, straps and other rigging if your caught up in it. it's ready and available on your vest, but big enough to handle survival tasks.
