Somebody give this guy a clue.

I talk him down to $80 shipped on an Emerson Mini commander and send him the money by PayPal on 8/26.

He sends me a tracking number that doesn't work:
"Jim, the knife will be out in todays mail...you should have it in a couple of days. Here's you Delivery Confirm number...0302 1790 0000 1196 8281."

When I tell him the tracking number doesn't work he says:
"I wouldn't worry about it...the same thing happened when I sent a knife to Glockman. That is the right number though. They will probably scan it once it gets to CO. I sent out yesterday so if you don't have it tomorrow you'll get it on Sat."

Saturday was a week ago. When I wrote him and asked him what his plan was he tells me he's going to go to the PO and find out what happened but that I should check with who ever handles the mail at my company (as if I were lieing to him). Keep in mind that I'm being nice and patient with him until...

He tells me that he thinks the package is lost and that he thinks we should "split" the cost of the knife. He wants to send me $40 and he's complaining that he's "already taken too big of a hit on a $120" knife.

Here's what I sent him:
"Nick,
I do not think that would be fair. I sent you all the money you agreed to sell the knife for and I've received nothing. It's not my fault you didn't insure the item. The seller always assumes responsibility for the knife arriving safely and if the seller wants to take the risk of not insuring the item than he is also risking refunding the buyer's money - all of it.

I'll wait until Friday for the knife, but if it doesn't arrive I'd like a full
refund.
Thanks. -Jim"

He writes and tells me that he thinks I'm trying to pull a fast one on him! I'M trying to pull a fast one? His tracking number doesn't work. Explain that.

I'm glad I paid by PayPal. I'll probably be able to get my money back through them and they'll probably close his account. If I don't get either the knife or satisfaction from Crazy Nicky by the end of Monday I'll begin the process.

Do a search for nicky in this forum, I do believe he has had his share of problems. Review 'em.

simply bullsh*t!!! Crazy Nicky owes you a knife or a full refund and
*nothing* less.

This "I wil split the loss" is CRAP

I won't comment on the rest of your post, sounds like sellers remorse.

However, I don't agree that seller automatically takes the risk. It is something a buyer and seller need to agree on as part of the price. Many times, a buyer (me included) is willing to take some risk to reduce shipping costs.

Good luck. PayPal is about as dis-interested a company I have ever dealt with. I have tried this twice to no end.

Hope everything works out for you.

We didn't discuss that at all because the price was a "shipped" price. Neither of us even brought it up.

I've gotten my money back from PayPal before. It wasn't hard. It just took a couple weeks.

I'm still talking to the guy. We'll see which direction it goes from here.

If the seller can not afford taking the loss he best insure the knife. It's the seller's responsibility to insure the knife arrives to the buyer and if it gets lost it's the seller's responsibility to contact the shipper be it UPS or USPS.

BUT what's up with that tracking number, is it BOGUS?

This is the story...I came up with what I thought was a good solution to the problem at hand FOR BOTH of us! He didn't like it so fine...I'll refund the the ENTIRE AMOUNT OF $80...if he doesn't get the knife. I never said at ANYTIME that I wasn't...so why is this guy already leaving bad feedback about me on GB&U saying I screwed him!!?? I have no idea...this deal isn't over yet in my book and it's a little to early to start this whining sh!t! Let's wait till next Friday to see if it arrives. I definetely sent the knife and I hate to be out money just like anyone else AND I also feel terrible about him not getting it. USPS isn't the most realiable and we all know that from experience. What I would hate to see happen is me refund the money for knife and this guy getting it after the refund as been made...and not returning it! Now, you all may wanna know why I said that I thought he may be pulling a fast one? OK, maybe I JUMPED THE GUN TOO..but #1 he was really quick to come on here and try to blemish my rep, #2 instead of having me send the knife to his CONFIRMED address he had me send it to his work(And we all know about Pay Pal and Confirmed address and how basically the seller ALWAYS gets porked in the ass!) I'm not trying to screw anyone on here, nor have I EVER and I don't want people to think that...I have made TONS of great transactions on here with no problems ever and when people leave posts like this...people will forever be hesitant to deal with me. Which sucks! Every knife I have sent to people on here has arrived with no problems...and when someone leaves some garbage about me trying to screw them on here get's me pissed and to the point where I don't want to refund at all!

Wolfmann, it's no bogus number. Besides no insurance was discused and I thought it would get there with no issues. So I got a DC for it...

I came here because people on this forum frequently mediate to help resolve disputes and because my conversations with you were quickly going downhill.

I have things shipped to my office so there's somebody there to sign for it. Also because it's a good safety rule to keep. I don't like to give out my personal address for my family's security. I've met some real nuts on the internet before. I don't want one climbing through one of my windows in the middle of the night some night.

OK, I agree to continue waiting for it until Friday evening. I'll let you know if it arrives or not.

fulloflead,

I'd give the package 'till Tuesday's mail to show up. Sometimes the USPS Delivery Confirmation "tracking" numbers work, sometimes they don't (even when they ARE the correct numbers). There have been many times when I've received a package BEFORE the tracking numbers were scanned and/or entered into the USPS "tracking system".

The trade I had with "crazy nicky" went smooth, with no shipping problems, and that was almost a couple months ago.

Just want to comment on part of this.

We have a small post office here, and whenever a new person starts working, things seem to change a bit.

When using delivery conformation they are supposed to scan the number and I think their computer system is updated nightly. Twice I have sent packages where the number was not scanned at our PO, and in fact not scanned until it arrived in its destination state.

I also had one I sent where the number was never scanned and never entered in the system. One day the buyer emailed me and said "The knife arrived safely, thanks". I checked the number then, and it still was never in the system and the guy already had the knife.

You just have to be a little careful when using the PO. They dont always make it a point to hire the brightest people around.

Don't take this the wrong way...but this is crock of sh!t, because your confirmied address showed up when you made payment. Now people are digging up that stupid BlastJV post from MONTHS ago...see what you started! This is ridiculous...

That may be true with PayPal, but it still works with sales and trades.

My apartment also has a box that's about a 4x4x8" compartment. Most things I have to take off work early and go stand in line at the post office for.

When people insure things, the receptionist signs for them and they're on my desk 5 minutes later. Having things shipped to my office has been working very well.

Listen...enough! Now you're emailing me accusing me of trying to do something to you when I asked what your forum name was! What is your problem?? I can't know who I'm dealing with on the forums??? Was I breaking some kind of law??? But it's ok for you to slander me on here...especially when the deal isn't done yet??? Dude, your just not right...

Is this childish or is it me? All I wanted his name for was do a search to see if there have been any issues with him in the past! That's all...this was from an email he just sent me...

"I think you asked for my forum name so you could go complain about me.
You gave yourself away by asking for it while were all pissed off. You're
just mad because I beat you to it."

Is this necessary???

You're just mad because I started this thread before you did.

I'm slandering you? Get real. Three posts up you implied that I might take the refund and then receive the knife and not send it back to you. I don't know what makes you think I'd do that. I wouldn't. You jumped to the conclusion that I was trying to rob you a long time ago.

Yeah? Read through the posts and emails again. Who's being rational here? You called me all kinds of things in emails. Not to mention that I think you broke your Caps Lock key.

OK, let's wrap this up. Let me get this straight. I'll wait for the knife until the end of Friday at which time I'll email you and tell you if I didn't receive it. If that happens you'll refund my $80 by PayPal?
If, at any time, I receive the knife I'll write you and tell you and also come on here and post that I received it.

I'll post here however this ends.

Now this is total BS! lol When did I do this and where is your proof and what did I call you? I have no recollection...lol this so laughable and shouldn't be allowed! I never called you ANYTHING and you know it...I have made it a point to conduct myself in a civilized manner...just so there is no ammo for you to use against me! I would like the moderators to get involved because now I really think I'm being screwed...just because this guy is making things up now. This has gotten way out of control! I'm through with this guy...

You may be through with him, but your not through with the deal.

If this guy is going to lie about emails then the deal is over in my book! That shows his true character...if he is going to lie about what was sent in emails, what makes you think he wouldn't lie about not getting a knife? This is over until I get an apology about his email lie.
