Do you agree?

I'm really not sure what is disconcerting about it. Are you trying to relate it to 9/11?

Jot Singh Khalsa is a Sikh, not a Muslem. Look at the emblem on the knife, look at his name.

If I am jumping to conclusions, my apologies. I just don't really see anything creepy about it. I do think it is a little humorous though. :)

I know nothing about him, but it sure does remind me of the 9/11. I don't know anything about Sikh. His knife is really nice. I'm not trying to offend anyone, it's just an odd picture of an arab looking man flying around New York city on a pocket knife.

Almost anything with the Twin Towers will grab at me these days... I don't think any American company would use that combination of images after 9/11.

I think the Spyderco Jot Singh Khalsa looks great! It's definately on my list, although the poster seems a little too "gimmicky" for my tastes, however I do like to see the face behind the knife. :)

That poster was made in 1997 and was used in promotions. Following 9/11 the poster was removed for obvious reasons, however there are some still "out there" and they do ocassionally pop-up.

Jot is a great person and he continues to be a great friend to us at Spyderco. We would encourage you (if you're not already) to learn more about him.

At Blade '03 I bought a bunch of knives for myself so I went to Jot's table and got some jewelery for the wife. He is an interesting and talented gentleman.

Most Americans can't tell the difference between a sikh and a muslim; hell, most Americans've never _heard_ of a sikh. ;)

It's fun to call racial-profiling proponents on this one.

"We know the guys we're lookin' fer is Islamic, so we should check out Islamics at the airport!"

"Can you tell the difference between a sikh and a muslim?"

"A whut?"

:D

Big difference between Sikh's and Muslims. I've met him a few times. Great guy. A true artisan.

I read his bio. Sounds like a great guy. He even mentions that people know he's not one of the "bad guys". His knives are cool, but I certainly couldn't carry any of them around, they're too nice looking.

Sikhism is the main religion in Punjab, India. One of the main tenets of the religion is that males are not to cut their hair so that they can easily be recognised as practioners of the faith and is a declaration of their faith.

As a result, Sikh males will have full beards and moustaches and long hair. The long hair is tied into a top knot and then covered with a turban.

Male followers of Sikhism are required to add "Singh" (meaning lion) to their names.

There is absolutely no link between the Sikh and Muslim religions.

One more interesting thing is that the Punjabis are traditionally a race of warriors and wear knives. Today, this is often symbolic and the males wear little pendants in the shape of their traditional knives.

I believe this explains why Jot also designs and makes little knife pendants, its part of his tradition.

My apologies to Jot and all Sikhs if I am not entirely accurate on the above. I am not a Sikh but there are quite a number in Malaysia too and I have friends who are Sikhs.

I believe the Sikh religion is influenced by Islam and Hinduism both. Just as Christianity is influenced by Judaism, yet a different religion. I could be wrong on this.

I met a couple of Sikh in college, briefly, and was very impressed by their devotion and personal character.
