creepy spyderco poster on ebay

Canes, walking sticks, hiking staffs are all pretty much invisible. If there are any laws against them, that's news to me. Since it's difficult to prove a claim of disability is faked, any security that forbids a stick for support will have to provide alternate means. Sure, here's my stick -- now get me a wheelchair.

Of course, I personally can easily support my need for support. All I have to do is detach my right foot and throw it at them. :D

It's all a farce, of course. What's the difference between a 3" blade or a 5" blade compared to a 4' staff? Why would I want a swordcane instead of a shillelagh?

There are no dangerous weapons. Only dangerous people.

Interesting tidbit of information for some of you. My old unit, 2/187 Infantry of the 101st Airborne, had several soldiers that WERE NOT Caucasian or Christian. In fact some were actually Muslim. Right now several of them are protecting a fledgling Iraqi democracy or searching for the vile people (note the use of the word people with no ties to race or religion) who were responsible for 9/11. The atrocity of 9/11 was a attack on America, not Muslim vs Christian, not Middle Eastern vs Caucasian. Innocent American civilians of various religions, races, sexes, and backgrounds were killed by these cowards in a attempt to weaken our resolve to fight terrorism. And like Pearl Harbor it failed in that respect. Sadly as time goes on and soldiers die some people lose sight of things. Some try and see it as a "Holy War" Some Politically Correct people start seeing it as racial and sadly, some just lose their resolve. Those soldiers over there have not. They are not fighting for some political agenda, their religion, or their race. They fight for their country, their ideals, and mostly for their Brothers in Arms. For regardless of their race, religion, or creed they all have 1 thing in common.

They are American.

There are no reputation points anymore, but this post I would have liked to give a green chicklet.

I've known Jot for probably a decade, he is a very focused, spiritual, empathetic guy. Another friend bought a knife from him and decided he did not want the knife. My friend asked me what to do. I sent him to tell Jot the truth. He told Jot he had buyers remorse and would Jot take the knife back. Jot said leave the knife and I'll think about it. My friend went back a few hours later and Jot had sold the knife. Jot asked for only one thing. He told my friend that he obviously had some issues and that he would appreciate my friend attending his Yoga seminar at the show; which my friend attended. After the seminar Jot gave my friend some relaxation exercises along with the return of his money. Jot said, obviously the knife was not where it belonged and it found its home.

I was kind of hoping that I get and addvertisment on a Persian carpet flying over some middle eastern city, alas as a stocky German-knifemaker- farmer it didn't happen.

Remember the most powerful tool that we can possess is a strong sense of humor...Take Care...ED

Actually, Mr Schempp, you flying over a Wheat Field would be more in keeping with your blade stamp.

Hey Ed,
Good to see you on the forums! My only question is, what are you doing posting when you should be making a Spyderco folding khukuri! :p :p Seriously though, my wife and I got to meet you at Blade (at the Spyderco booth on Friday). My wife thought that of all the makers that we met at the show, she most enjoyed talking to you, Pat Crawford, and Larry from Bladeart. That says alot coming from her!
Now get back to your bench :D :D :D :D
Matt

Thanks for the story about Jot!

I am the one who won that particular Ebay auction. I just received the poster 3 days ago and I think it makes a nice conversation piece. I am of course an avid Spyderco collector so it just made sense to add it to my other Spyderco collectibles. I also have been a big fan of that knife that he and Spyderco did together. The C-40 Spyderco is one I would even like to see brought back. I have met the gentleman at 3 knife shows now and he is very polite, professional and interesting to talk to.

So NO I don't think that the poster is offensive in any way. After all it was nothing more than a marketing campaign for the knife that him and Spyderco did. I have 2 of the C-40 Jot Khalsa Spyderco knives and wouldn't mind having a couple more. I actually wish that they would bring back the Khalsa C-40 some day in one of the newer, better blade steels such as S30V, VG-10 or even ZDP-189.

Just because someone is of a different culture doesn't bother me in the least. Actually the 3 times I have talked to MR. Khalsa I have found his conversation to be very educational and enjoyable. The guy has always treated me with respect and I will treat him likewise. Oh! by the way! I also have the "All GOD's Critters" poster as well :) and the 2 of them look great together. JD Spydo

Nagod, you have no concept of the history of this Forum. If you had bothered to ask, you might have learned that it started with a debate over a pricing issue way back when, one that has long since been resolved. part of the resolution of that issue was the involvement of Sal Glesser and he has chosen to remain involved. I believe that this is a good example of his committment to the knife community, for he has used this Forum to float ideas and to receive feedback, not all of it positive, which is more than I can say for some companies. I am just grateful that a busy man such as Sal will take the time to put up with us here at BFC.
a little off subject,,but i was NOT questioning SGs involvement in any way.sorry for any misunderstanding.i meant that comments and questions should be directed at the person
most capable of answering them.
