CRK knockoffs - buyers beware

And if I wanted a CRK and found a copy (i no longer own any CRKs) that was NOT a counterfeit but was a good value .... i'd buy it.

Why wouldn't you?

Peace,

Richard.

Richard, What CRK knives have you owned?

.
If english isn't your native language and you honestly fail to understand .... please LMK so I can help you understand my Qs and Ops.

Peace,

Richard.

In my opinion, it is rather moronic to assume that someone who doesn't understand English would know what "LMK" means.

You do realize that CRK has made cheap(er) knives which copy other designs? In fact given the production nature of CRk knives .... they could mostly be considered cheap in comparison to custom maker offerings.

Going off of what you just posted, I have to wonder if you haven't confused CRK (Chris Reeve Knives) with CRKT (Columbia River Knife & Tool), since CRKT has a reputation for primarily making more affordable, authorized versions of custom knives.

Regards,
3G

P.S. There's a member here named Shecky who I think would just love your arguments.

Sure you could. Give it a try. <j/k>

They speak volumes but you are strangely silent.

Well not completely silent. You are unjustifiably contemptuous. Why initiate insults brother? It's unnecessary and demeans only you.

Sorry, your point is unclear and I don't want to put words in your mouth. But if you mean that someone will profit from prior art .... that's life in a capitalist world my brother. CRK have certainly profited from the hard work of others (and continue to do so .... rightfully).

Haze, what I call them is not in question. What CRK call them is because they chose to post a thread which I believe to be filled with Marketing Mumbo Jumbo. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

I really don't want to sound condescending and offend anyone but "Words mean things." (d. webster). There's a world of difference between a counterfeit (illegal and IMHO immoral) and a copy.

Public domain isn't theft. As you can see from my post above .... public domain is *one* of the Qs I ask about.

I already addressed that circumstance. Please read my post again. And to paraphrase Sharp Phil; please read what I wrote, not what you think I wrote. TIA for your consideration.

The Net is an international community. If english isn't your native language and you honestly fail to understand .... please LMK so I can help you understand my Qs and Ops. Not convince you to agree w/me .... simply communicate.

Of course you're confused. You don't seem to understand that words mean things. Ok, I know that comment may seem unkind but even folks like Vassily would understand that what I wrote is the opposite of what you claim.

Please offer us your opinions. I am very interested in why you disagree. I am willing to admit error as well. But please leave out the ad hominem attacks. Once again: TIA!

Peace,

Richard.

All complaints and queries should be submitted in writing to the Whine&Cheese forum.

Thank you.

I'm not a mod so I can't throw the truly deserving over the gunwale for obvious troll behaviour, but I can provide a short walk the plank to the ignore list.

Can someone explain the initial posting? I thought it was about spotting counterfeit Chris Reeve Knives. It seems to be more about this knife is similar to this knife, so it must be a copy. That's like saying a Honda and a Toyota are copies (they have an engine, 4 wheels, 4 doors, etc). Knife designs are different on so many levels (blade design, material, weight, handles), that to say that they are copies... This discussion seems to be going back and forth on a single memeber's interpretation of the original posting.

The original post was just re-stating what CRK has already posted as a sticky. Since most members never look at the stickies I thought it would be a positive addition to this forum.

TrekWalker is the one who stirred the pot and basically tarnished the thread with his defense attorney's picture proof definition of copy and counterfeit and claiming they are different because none of us speaks english and apparently only he does. So, a couple of pages later it seems he logs in but doesn't post anymore

Qbeam, welcome to the discussion. The original post was about cheap knives deliberately built to mimic CRK design elements and logos to attract buyers thinking they are getting CRK quality.

Trekwalker either failed to understand this, or deliberately muddied the trail by conflating these deliberate frauds with knives of similar appearance or construction.

ALL knives have a common ancestry, which means the most effective elements will reappear more often than not, which is not a problem. But deliberately using a name or logo that belongs to another maker or manufacturer is dishonest, and it is this we are concerned with.

I noticed another question you had, about posting pictures. As a paid member, you could download pictures directly from your own computer to Bladeforums server. See Want to Sell Knives? Private Message? Post Polls? Upload Pictures? Upgrade your forums experience, and help support this site.

There is an even easier way. Join a free service like www.photobucket.com and you can store your pictures there. You can also name and edit them. Then when you need a picture to post here, just copy the URL under it and paste that URL when you write up your post.

We also have posting instructions on our Bernard Levine's Knife Collecting & Identification forum at READ THIS FIRST! How to ask questions that get answered.

Assuming for a moment that Batosai's post about Contrarian Trolling is "the textbook," I chuckled repeatedly as I stumbled across textbook contrarian trolling behavior in this thread, almost in the very order of the bullet points of "the textbook."

Okay.....I have 1 question do the Shrade extreme survival count as
counterfeit? Because they look alot like the project I and II just my
opinion.or are they different enough to be legal copys?
