Hello CRK and CRK folks... I am just curious where CRK stands on posting the results of the tests discussed in the post from 4-19-12. It has been nearly 3 months, Blade Show is now behind us, and I am anxiously awaiting further enlightenment on this highly anticipated round of tests.

Likely won't find out any time soon, if ever. I'd be interested as well. However it might conflict a lot of warranty claims if that knife did sustain thousands of wrist snaps (harder than flicks) with no damage.

With the new model 25 having the Umnumzaan style lock up I feel like what's the point of even going there now? I doubt CRK will follow up to address the issue any more and I don't blame them at this point since the knife being discussed is being discontinued.

I would like to see testing of the new 25 and it's durability. Remember the Umnumzaan lock up controversy that led to the lock stop being introduced? The 25 apparently lacks the stop...

I would like to know also. CRK not posting the rest of the testing kind of leaves me with an uneasy feeling. Like they don't want us to know what the results were. Don't get me wrong, I am a CRK fan. I carry an Umnum almost everyday and will buy a 25 when they become available. I never bought a sebenza before because of all of the warranty problems with the lock that are discussed here and CRK not following through with the test says to me that the warranty issues were real. I love my Umnum and can't wait for the 25 but not seeing the test finished just seems shady to me.

We will likely never see a simple statement part 2, because Chris introduced the 25 and doesn't care much to prove the 21's design anymore.

But Chris should be a man of his word and post it anyways.

The tests are supposedly already done, they just have to upload them.

I doubt seriously that they will upload it if they haven't already done so.

Oh well...

Edit: This issue also wont go away just because Chris ignores it, although the 25 is coming out and the 21 is discontinued doesn't mean that people wont need further warranty work on their 21.

This shows/tells me that hes abandoning a poorly designed knife (mainly the lock face) and wants nothing to do with it anymore because he realized the design was flawed.

Wolf, I think you are reading a bit too far into it. Just because he has moved on to what is a better design which should have more longevity and less wear doesn't mean he feels the older design, used by every other frame lock on the market, is flawed. With that logic I should conclude the old Altima is flawed because Nissan released a new one this year, right?

A handful of complaints on a design in production for 25 years doesn't make it a flawed design! How many Sebenzas do you think have been produced in 25 years and how many complaints have we read about? As a percentage it must be what, less than 1/10th of 1%? (less than 1 in a thousand produced)

I tried starting this thread a few weaks ago and was attacked for it. I hope you have better luck and CRK keeps their word and posts the results.

I wouldn't say you were "attacked". In my opinion the responses were more a matter of timing than anything.

A beast of a thread long gone off the rails was finally put to rest. It was a long period of what seemed like CRK bashing in a section full of CRK fans, then the excitement of the 25 came about and felt like a breath of fresh air, if not atleast a new topic...then Simple Statement 2 popped up and I think the general census was "no, enough, let us celebrate a bit, just awhile atleast".

Nothing personal;)

...and that's the last of me in here:D

Hopefully this thread can remain respectful and pragmatic. I am not interested in each persons anecdotal experiences they have had with CRK. I am simply looking for an update and some further light and knowledge. Should this thread get de-railed and become an annoyance I will simply lock it.

This thread will likely dissapear to the archives soon because its seems they will never post this information.

I am also interested in an update.

+1

I love my sebbie, EDC'd one for 7 years now. But I can't get how/why they think that not posting the results will do anything but make it look like they're hiding something. I'll keep using my sebbie, and I'll buy more. But it looks bad.

No offense intended Wolf but if I were Mr. Reeve and you were taunting me like that, I'd come at you like a spider monkey.

Methinks he is far classier than I, however.

There seems to be a strong "Chris Reeve can do no wrong" sentiment here which makes discussion akin to conversing about the workings of the universe with a creationist. I feel valid discussion could be had here if people would stop posting how classy he is, how he says his knives are tools, etc. None of this has any bearing on the information being presented; we merely know that locks have failed on sebenzas, it's being chalked up to excessive opening, CRK proved with their tests that it isn't the case, claimed they had more results to post, they go silent, and now we see the lock face redesigned. I don't know how classy this all sounds to me...

Perhaps if this topic was in general there would be more unbiased responses. However, this is in an area where people spend hundreds on a single knife from CRK, have been treated fantastically by CRK, and choose CRK as their main brand for knives. So when you see post such as Chris Reeve can do no wrong etc there should be no surprise in it.

Two or three or even four months is a long time to go without a response or a post on an internet discussion forum, in the business world that time frame isn't so long. There are shows, orders to fill, and new knives to come up with. Just keep a little perspective and try to exercise some patience.

I will say it would be harder to do the above mentioned if I were to have had poor experiences so I can understand human nature. In my opinion though this topic will bring few unbiased responses as long as it sits in the CRK room.

As you can see, I've written a few paragraphs and not a single word is in reference to lockfaces nor warranties nor testing. My reasoning is there will be no point in bringing it up when there's a locked thread a couple pages back that if printed out would be as thick as a novel. With no new information what could be added that isn't already covered in that train wreck?

Its not taunting when we were told by the man himself he would do it. Its holding him to his word.

those spider monkeys are vicious :D
