CRK Sub-Forum Idea. . .

Anne has already expressed that she is fine with having a sales sub-forum here and said that it would ultimately be Spark's decision to move forward with it.

Spark currently has the idea under review.

Perhaps,..But I don't think this subject is going to magically go away without a definitive answer from Chris or Anne..

Until then, there probably isn't a reason to believe that they won't.
 
Here is an excerpt from an email dialogue I had with CRK back in '13 when this idea began percolating:

"Thanks for your patience in waiting for my reply. I spoke with Anne and CRK is okay with the creation of a subforum. I spoke with Kevin (Sparky) and he said he needs to see if there will be enough traffic to warrant it. It is in his hands now.
Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.

Perhaps there is a CRK forumite with some search know-how and some time on their hands that could collect some data on the volume of CRK listings in both the folder and fixed blade sections? Maybe that would help Spark determine if the traffic warrants the sub-forum. ANY VOLUNTEERS--please email me at mostmenareruthless@gmail.com.

Really? Personally i think it would be super popular. It would also be a safe haven to deter against fakes, as we would all be watching...some of us constantly;)
 
From the last 10 pages of the "for sale by production" and "For trade knives"

2.6 Average CRK/page on sales
1.7 Average CRK/page on trades

I don't think there is a reason to go much higher than the last 10 pages as this is a fairly typical sample size. There is also some reason to believe that a subforum for sales and trades actually may have MORE than this average. I wouldn't have to wade through stuff I am not really interested in.

Maybe if CRK has nothing to do with it , I highly doubt Chris would have anything to do with it that would require any time from his staff.

I totally agree with this on all accounts Mark-
IF this was going to happen,..I'm sure that there would have to be a Mod that isn't employed by CRK at all..

I too would be all for the Sub Forum section here. Thats why I pay for a Gold Membership. If we got one, I would move up to Platinum to help support it even more. With not having one here, I was thinking of putting on together on FB. After not getting one here and a friend on the CRK FB page asking about it, we decided to start one up. Its been very successful in the short time there. I buy all the time on the EDC groups and there is a strong following there with regular members. Even if we get a page here, that FB page is not going away. Will just be another avenue for us to seek out out favorite CRK.

Why would it have anything to do with CRK staff ? It would be a subforum here on BFC over seen by the Mods that are already there to moderate the exchange. There would be no need for input from CRK but I think we all understand having a sales sub forum with their name on it should indeed be OKed by them before anything went forward and it seems that it has been.

That sounds great Haze, at that point maybe the only obstacle would be bandwidth.
 
I could think of a few subforums that could be deleted to make room, without much ill effect.

Already Approved Buddy........ In only a few short weeks, we already have 215 members. And thats just mostly from the EDC crowds on FB. Even if a page is opened up here, it will not go away. It will just be another reliable source for finding the CRK's we all know and love. On the Exchange here, I ONLY browse it to look for Chris Reeve Knives. Honestly have no interest in others. I have tried em and save for one here and there, I am about 99% CRK. And I have no problem going to 100%.....lol. Everyone is welcome. Its Chris Reeve Knives - BST. Still hoping and Praying Mr. Spark opens up one here. We have the forum space as I see there are forum pages that are no more. I think we deserve it....!!!
