crossbwo ownership

Hey Guys..

Sir...

Ahh Ok,, like an archery range...

You should have told them, you'd stand twice as far back... :)

Or you'd bring your own target. if you don't have a place ask a farmer if you can shoot in his field...

Would be interesting to see what they would say if you had your own...
If they still said No,, then it's that they don't like Crossbows period..

Personally I'd stir up the Shit...

We shot achery here in a Church with Crossbows,, I think people just have a broken stick up their asses sometimes...

Hi Normark, I'm in Ontario also, Toronto. We have a free public range here and they also put up signs no crossbows. Its the bad apples in the bunch. Guys would load their crossbows and and point it in every direction with others around
and if you kindly told them not to they would get mad. As I said its a few bad apples. Not to mention they would cary them around uncovered to the parking lot this would make park patrons nervous. Go figure why they disallow them.

I have one of the pistol crossbows. It is practically worthless. I own and shoot longbows, recurves, crossbows and compound bows. They all have limitations on range and trajectory. IMO the crossbow is no more deadly than a compoud bow. They have similar velocities, trajectories and range. The advantage of the crossbow, as others suggest, is that you don't have to practice alot to be proficient. You get the sights to point of aim and you don't have to worry about hours of practice. If you can't own a firearm ,the crossbow is an excellent alternative. BTW I'm fortunate in that I can shoot a bow or pellet rifle on my property.

i`d be one of those people carrying it uncovered as i haven`t had the oppurtunity to buy a case for it yet . i`m looking into it but. i`ll also be looking to get a dot scope for it soon. i don`t point it at people though :)

normark

i hear what you`re saying mate , its discrimination againt crossbows for sure. if i ever find a target to buy i`ll look into asking the ranges if they`ll take it. as for farmers i don`t know any , unfortunately

Sirgalant, I hope you find your place to shoot. As I said its the bad apples that ruin it for everyone in any area of life.

Hey TS...

Well if they are muzzle careless they Should be booted out.. That goes for Guns and bows of any type...

When I was pistol shooting at our club, there were certain people that when they came up on the firing line, there were several people including me that packed up in a hurry and got out of the range...

Some people no matter what you do are not safe...

There was one lady who worked for an armored car company who discharged into the next booth...

We always said the safest place on the range when she was firing was behind the target.. :)

a bloke at work has offered to let me shoot my crossbow on his property (several achres) i said yes.

Sirgalant
Old boogies boards make good targets. Go for the ones made of plastic looking foam rather than polystyrene. You can usually find them at garage sales or council clean ups. You would probably need 4 or 5 thick to stop a bolt. They are also waterproof so they wont degrade if left outside in the rain. Regards

cool , i`ve also been told surfboards make good targets :) i`ve got a few old boogie boards in the shed, i think

The reason I think crossbows got singled out is because a bolt ready to launch at 150 pounds pull and carlessly being waved around stigmatized many range goers, I feel sorry for crossbowers but unfortunately a few bad ones did not give a S**t.

I have a crossbow and they work great if you're hunting vampires:thumbup: The only downside is that you need silver bolts. .

Geez, you'll never get a date with Buffy until you study up. Silver works on werewolves--- it's wood through the heart for vampires. Don't forget your garlic.

just picked up a surefire x200 weapon light for it . now i`ve just gotta make up the brackets to mount it

Hey Guys..

510..

sorrym issed yuor post...

Well if you figure at 20+ feet high, bear is at say 12 yards with a 1.5" blade, you can just about imagine the hole a broadhead is going to cut..
I'lltell you it slices through ribs and everything in between like a laser, and still have to yank it out of the ground.
God forbid there be a root or a rock on the other side...

Sir..

Sounds like you are building a fine Poach'n Machine! :)
