:barf: My friend John Doe bought a new knife that cost around $300.00.He just called yelling at me because the blade broke.I had sung the praises of this knife as a fine knife. Now he is b. me out.I ask what he was doing with the knife when the blade broke. He was prying a bolt out of a board that he wants to use in a book case project. He is so mad.I will give him a crowbar with a bow on it when he calms down.:p:p:p

if you told him about this....

you wouldn't have had to post this..

I can sort of understand emergency prying with a knife, or light prying when there's nothing better at hand. I've done it a few times myself.

But using a $300 knife to pry a nail out of a board for a book case project in what I assume was the comfort of his home, makes no sense.

For that same money you could have just about bought a Busse Cg-Ash. It would pry bolts out and laugh all day long. One stout knife Imho.

somehow I get the feeling it was s30v, which is anything but tough imo. super hard steels should stick to slicing paper and leave the manly work to carbon steel.

not to be rude:: but I HIGHLY doubt your friend is capable of building a book case.. I mean seriously, he's using a knife ($300 one to boot) to pry a BOLT out of a piece of wood that he intends to reuse?? How, why, or where would he use this crap wood after he PRIED a bolt out of its frayed hole?

This is a joke.. no ones that stupid...

Prybars are cheap so why do people keep prying with knives that cost 10-100x more than prybar. You can get a mini prybar for like 5bux at any home depot or lowes or a
12" one for like 13bux that will pry 10000X better than even a knife designed with prying in mind.

hey bro,
sharpen a crow bar and hand it to him the next time he wants to cut a tomato.
he'll get it

THELASTDAZE

He only uses old highly figured wood for his projects. Some people use very high dollar lumber for building and repair jobs. Some of the very best lumber comes from 19th cent.
houses that have been torn down.He is not stupid just impulsive.Have you ever done something that had results that you did not want?

Would it be harsh to say he deserves a broken knife?
A man has to know his limitations.

How bad is the damage?
Can it be ground back to a reasonable re-profile?

Get him a Himalayan Imports Chirawa Ang Khola, it's apparently warranted as a crowbar, so it will do the double duty he's looking for!
