After swearing nobody needs anything like a 5 inch blade on a folding survival type knife I saw a demo of this on blade HQ and now I must have one.

Anyone have any opinions or first hand knowledge?

Love to hear thoughts.

Cool !

But I'm waiting for the 6 Max ! :)

Even better : the 7.5 Max , which would equal the XL Espada in BL , but be stouter . Folding choppa ! :D

As a Liker of Dumb Knives, I was interested.

Then I saw that the blade is only 0.19" thick.

IMO, the 5" mark is where you need to upgrade to an All-American, rootin' tootin' 0.25"!

Would also like to see it with a coated blade made of semi-stainless or straight tool steel, because this knife is going to do Stupid Things.

I don't get the price jump, either. The jump from the AD-10 to the 4Max already seemed high for just a little extra size; this is even worse. You could buy two AD-10's for less than the 5Max and have more blade length. I don't see how it can possibly be more expensive to make this one oversized knife vs two regular sized ones.

GSM Cold Steel list pricing is really high , but eventually deep discounts can be found .

The Thompson Sig. Spartan (limited series) listed at ~$400 .

I bought one at ~$100 and a second for $75 ! ☺️

Ha, I got that same knife. I think that one had an unreasonably high MSRP from the start. I guess we'll see where the street price for this one settles, but I have a feeling that it'll still be pretty high compared to the AD-10.

If the 5 Max sells well enough , we might see a "Scout" version , value budget materials and pricing ?
