When the place that has the good sales and free shipping get them and start discounting them why not get one?The elite is 199 right now, down from 399 the 5 max can wind up at 175.And as ive said before, that Joe x jackass' "testing" is completely stupid and useless .I want to know when in the history of knives has one been shot in a real life situation ? One day a riccochet is gonna put an end to his idiotic videos.....
That dude is a clown, let’s be realistic.Hey I consider Joe X to be a valued member of the knife community. You may not agree with his testing methods but they still reveal a lot whether you want to admit or not.
The one thing people like Joe X do is very quickly blow any phony "combat tough" durability marketing claims right out the window in a heartbeat also if you want to know what the real limits of a particular knife are, it's people like Joe X that can give you a very good idea.
There is a saying in the art world (I think) the more one pays for a fake the more he/she wants to be convinced it's real. It seems a lot of people get rich marketing their knives as something they are not.
I can see how someone like Joe X can pop a lot of fragile bubbles both literally and figuratively.
Despite Lynn's faults and the buyout of Cold Steel. Cold steel makes durable high quality high value knives for the money. They are one of very few companies that give more than 2 hoots about my precious fingers and pay attention to quality control in their folder locks.
Lynn was always honest and candid about the strengths and weaknesses of his locking folders and locking folders in general unlike other so called reputable companies out there that don't care one bit if you seriously injure your fingers with one of their so called "tough use" knives equipped with garbage locks and serious neglect of lock quality control.
As long as the few drop shut early lockup people who don't actually use their knives (coming from someone who uses his knives very little too) whine, complain, and poo poo about how they want their knives to easily unlock for their secrete stealth mall ninja missions, they will keep making these high priced unsafe knives. I think it's time people who want good locks on their knives to speak up and let these money grubbing cheapskates know that most people take safe knife lockup seriously.
What do I think of the 5 Max ? It's a big folder. A good big folder with an appropriate lock for a folder of that size and a high quality steel blade. Some people don't like big folders they just need to look elsewhere why come here to whine about their dislike of big folders. I mean it's alright to make a snark or two but if they are going to have a panic attack over it perhaps they should not expose themselves to such a stressful thread about a big folder/folders. I personally would be all over this if it came in a dessert warrior or other spritzy color pattern/patterns instead of the dreary mil camo type colors. Otherwise I can really like this thing even with the dumb or maybe not so dumb for hunting mil type colors.
Every Cold Steel folder I have ever handled from the Japanese ones to the current Taiwan made ones have had absolutely top quality fit and finish (even the budget models.)
There are a lot of makers out there (so called reputable makers too) that sell trash for much higher prices. That is my impression.
You need the 6” bladed Mayhem- what a monster! We actually agree on GSM , they suck ! Almost no-one here disagrees .
But endless rehashing and bashing seems pointless . GSM doesn't care , mostly .
But for CS fans , GSM is the only game in town . I'm trying to make the best of it .
I love huge folders ,that work, and are affordable . That was one thing that always set Cold Steel apart .
I want to encourage CS to continue producing huge sturdy folders .
Prices in the USA , from some non-sponsors are still excellent values for some models . Unbeatable really .
I got a 4 Max Scout , on sale ,for ~50USD . Same for the AD-15 Lite .
The Signature Spartan S35VN and G=10 , lists for ~400USD . I got one for $100 and a second for $75 .
Bought 2 CPM3V Master Hunter fixed @ $100 each .
Lots of other great deals to be found on CS here in the USA . Plus free shipping ...and some tax, but not like yours !
Sounds like a folding a folding axe forum is needed.Cool !
Inexpensive too ?
Lightweight with no lose of strength usually = >$$$$$
Extra mass is an advantage if you want to do any chopping .
That dude is a clown, let’s be realistic.
No. no, this is apparently about "fragile bubbles being popped". Don't you know that Joke X's snuff films blow "phony combat tough durability marketing claims" right out the window? Like, in a heartbeat. Superfast.
Young feller, I remember the last time I was in combat. There I was, going door to door, hand to hand, and I had to take out a lot of chunks of broken cement and metal sign poles, and man, my knife sure got beat up. Even had to deflect multiple rounds fired at me with my trusty blade.
