CS/GSMO is asking for your input on your favorite discontined CS knife

I'll play... how?
GSMO/CS is asking for inputs. How many companies do that? I remember that Ruger did, back when they were looking for new projects.

Were I in charge of GSMO/CS, I certainly wouldn't send someone here right now, simply to be attacked.

Yeah... about what discontinued model they might bring back, I can see how that's a priority considering the current situation

Was Ruger sold at that time, apples and oranges if not.

It looks like GSM was also just bought. They will have a lot of work ahead to sort everything out. I hope they give Cold Steel the attention and resources it needs, and don’t just bleed it for profits to bail out another part of the new conglomerate.

Sincerely, you should spend more time cruising the maker's forums. Spyderco, Buck and others have a strong presence here.

No one will ever exceed Sal Glesser in customer interaction.

Most definitely an apples to apples comparison, for those willing to dig. Ruger began asking for input shortly after it hired a new CEO, Michael O Fifer, the quintessential Harvard MBA with zero firearms experience. There was a great deal of consternation among Ruger fans -- just as there appears to be among some CS fans, (and of course, CS/LCT haters.) Keep in mind the only two CEOs Ruger had ever had was its founder, Bill Ruger and Ruger's son. FWIW, Fifer did an excellent job. He also groomed and promoted Ruger's current CEO, who is also doing a good job.

I don't know how long CS's planning period last for a coming year, but asking the question they did (and it would be great if they asked more), could indeed provide some valuable insights.

There have been a number of attacks on both CS and LCT in the big CS/GSMO thread. LCT made a video explaining the sale. That in itself led to more attacks/ugly judgements. Customers aren't entitled to know whether he did it because he wants to slow-down/retire, because GSMO made him an offer he couldn't refuse, because he's in a cash crunch due to the pandemic or otherwise or whatever. The details will come out, when he wants them to.

The negativity is no excuse for CS to avoid their own forum . They can ignore (or even edit out stuff on this subforum ) .

They need to be talking to their loyal fans and customers .

Otherwise , people will assume the worst !

If GSM is listening here, one of the first things they need to do is take the glass fiber out of the sheath plastic. It makes the sheaths dull blades and has been infuriating customers for years. Sheaths don't need to be stiff or impact resistant. Other manufacturers make plastic sheaths that don't dull blades, so there's no need for glass fiber reinforcement. Best of all, you'll like that the material costs less and molds more easily without it. And GSM, if you don't know shit about knives, search Youtube for "crap sheath dulls knife".

I'm just going to go ahead a say it - we should give GSM a chance. One chance, that's all. If they go the way of Gerber, Al Mar or Schrade, I'll look elsewere for my cutlery needs.

I'd like to see the return of the ATC, HTC and LTC Kukri (would be awesome in A2), in SK-5 or O1 or even Drop Forged 52-100.

This might have been suggested, but how about a regular production satin Recon 1 (20CV or S35VN or similar steels should all be fine)?

Wait. What?

Are you saying it is the consumers/fans that have the responsibility to establish a rapport with the new owners?

No, that's not what I'm saying at all. I didn't say anything about responsibility; those are your words.

If you're hoping to influence the direction the company will take, do you think nasty comments are more effective than polite conversation? The company is likely going to do whatever it wants, but trying to open a friendly line of communication would seem like a good idea...
