CS/GSMO is asking for your input on your favorite discontined CS knife

The seller always has the responsibility to engage. They are the only one to materially benefit from capturing attention. No consumer on the planet with the capability to communicate with any knife brand has any problem finding a useful knife without the need to say a single thing to any company. The only point in engagement and conversation is to get the consumer to buy your brand over others.

The customers also owe the companies absolutely nothing. When the price and value overlap, the customer will provide money in exchange for product. That's it, they have no requirements beyond that. Not to talk. Not to be hopeful. Nothing.

The people taking part in the exchange for the purpose of profit and earning a living better be the ones jumping through hoops, their livelihoods are on the line. The only dilemma a customer faces is one of facing vast and equally satisfying choices among all their competitors.

More blacked out clips on the folders across the board, like the Voyagers. It'll leave the ladies intrigued with that mysterious front XL bulge.......And the law From giving me the stink eye. Partially said with levity to break some tension here.;)

I’d think any company would take full advantage of today’s use of the internet to interact with customers. The days of magazine ads and free catalogs are long gone. I’m sure whatever they have going on is hectic, but it doesn’t take much to put a guy on a computer and let him sort thru the questions and misinformation for a few hours every day. They invested in CS, they should be protecting that investment.

Agreed, but they would probably focus on social media first. However, if you Google "cold steel sold" or "cold steel gsm", the "ever heard of gsm..." thread shows up on the first page, so shouldn't be too hard for them to find us, if they didn't already know about BF. Willing to give them a bit more time to respond here, but if it takes too much longer I would definitely take it as a bad sign.

I miss most the nylon or leather sheaths. I hope they'll go back to those-they don't dull the edge like the fiberglass reinforced plastic sheaths do.

I also hope they'll bring back the 1 piece heavy wall 5 foot big bore "professional" blowgun, so I can replace the one I had to leave in Florida, and for various (legitimate) reasons, cannot get shipped to me now.
(It doubles as a dandy walking/hiking stick, to boot.)

3V Recon Scout and Trailmaster, and bring back the Caledonian edge,if not san mai, then AUS10 or S35VN

They might... BF is by far the largest knife forum on line, right? I guess people tend to pay more attention to social media like Facebook and Instagram these days. Other knife companies have established a presence here, so maybe it is on their radar...

I don't know? r/knives on Reddit has 237K members worldwide. r/knifeclub has 126K. How do they compare?

how about the military classic..in 3v or whatever as long as not made in China of 4034 steel. beggars cant be choosers.:) that would be great.

If you are really passionate about CS and you really want to spend time engaging in this forums, you should really re-examine your communication style.

Calling you a GSM employee was a joke on my part, but if you keep this up, no one is going to believe anything you say.

Judging from your post history, you must have spent many hours responding on bladeforums, most of it arguing with people about this topic. You do you, but I honestly don’t think it’s a best use of time.

If you want to continue investing valuable time(i have no evidence your time is valuable or not) on this forum, perhaps try to be a productive member. Who knows, maybe you’ll make some friends eventually, or we’ll learning something from you, and you from us.

Instead of them bringing back old knives, which I doubt they will do, I would just like them to keep the current catalogue with the current quality control and materials, or improve those areas. I would like to see an SRK in SK5 without the huge choil in front of the guard, but with a sabre/flat grind, not the sabre/hollow. I would also like to see an SRK in AUS 8 with those same features. It would be good to have a tough, easy to sharpen SRK that's also good around water/moisture and is affordable. If they do want to reduce costs, then the Drop Forged line should become their flagship for fixed blades. I'm not just saying that because I'm buying one right now, I know that their drop forging requires few steps, and is done with an affordable, but high-quality steel. So long as the materials stay the same and they don't tell Taiwan to cut corners, it would be a good lineup to maintain or expand. They don't even have to pay for handles, for most of them at least.

The only mainstream competitor that I'm aware of for CS is Condor, in terms of making a readily-available wide variety of old and new designs. And CS has offered them in a variety of steels, from lower cost, but still high performing steels, to premium steels like 3V. I hope they realize that is the strength of the brand. Other buyouts, like Remington, have focused on using brand recognition and brand value as the primary assets, rather than the traits of the brand. That's a verifiable way to bankrupt a company for short-term profits from the uninformed, but holding companies can't seem to help doing it. I hope GSM is smarter, and wants to play the long game. Chess not checkers, but investors rarely understand that.

if I were them id start with answering the phone I ordered a knife the other day and never got a shipping date
I sent CS an email a few days before they were acquired. It took about 2 days for them to respond.

I sent CS a second email a week or so after they were bought. It was about a great deal on Espada XLs. I was asking if the seller was an approved retailer as the deal was so good. I was concerned about clones. I've never reserved a response.

I hope they bring back the free Gurkha Kukri and TrailMaster for everyone that has used one for over ten years and still has it. I loved that old Cold Steel policy, didn’t you guys?!? Sure hope GSM adopts it...

And for the love of Pete, please stop listening to the super steel freaks and go back to making the toughest users on the planet with simple easily obtained steels like SK5. For the life of me I can’t imagine needing anything tougher, I’ve used mine for about 10 years as regularly and as hard as can be imagined and my Kukri and TrailMaster can be cleaned with a scratch pad and some WD40 and they look like they came out of the box. I know some people love to endlessly chase the BBD (bigger better deal) but look at the cost to CS users. We haven’t been able to buy some of the most cherished models ever because the company has been conned into chasing an ever moving and never attained super steel “du jour.”. Stop the nonsense and just start making great knives again. And of course spears and blowguns and tomahawks!

And I’ll add one more thing, if GSM wants to increase sales and solidify Cold Steel’s customer base. Bring production back to the US.
