CT Gathering still going on?

I'm in.I'm especially in if we're boatin.

Kev--If you do that overnite river trip again[N.H.?] you posted here last year, I would be up for that too. The Gaylordsville to Boardman Bridge float on the Housie is just a day trip, We might be able to do a overnite float a little further north between Housatonic Mdos and Kent. About 12 mi with some nice islands in btwn. --I wonder if sitting here staring out at the snow makes it easier to mentally whip out these grandiose summer plans. Sure sounds good now. --;)--KV

Edit-Just checked with N.M. Park and Rec on overnites at Sega Mdos. Boy Scouts and Girl scouts only -No private overniters.--Will continue to check on private property.

That trip was a blast. That little stretch of River between ME & NH had some good fishing as well:thumbup:

oh well, it sure was sounding good. We'll find something eventually.

Wow alot of stuff.

No spot for me.

Due to military injuries and coming home, the first meeting could not be met, 2nd one just did not work out for me.

If we can get some where close to transportation (public), I will/can attend.

S/F,
CEYA!

We'll be probably doing this in the summer, I'm sure. Stay in touch on this forum. If you get close by public trans,I'll come pick you up. We've got time to plan.--Heal well!--KV

Between all of us in CT, I am sure we can come get you. Where are you located in CT?

Is this potential event open to anyone in CT? If so I would like to be included (if work schedule allows).

If we do a campout it will be open to anyone that wants to come. They don't have to live in CT.

The tuff part is to find a place that can handle this sort of thing. State parks won't work, too many damn rules. Private land would be best, but it is very difficult to get any property owners to give us consent.

If anyone has any ideas, let us know.

I'm still working on the private land thing. We may have to limit it to a dozen or so people/cars. The owner is out of town, but I have a call in to him. He may put some limits on it.He may limit us to small arms only,no full auto and one keg per person.--I'll let y'all know as soon as I know.--:D--KV

If people wouldn't mind venturing about 1.5 miles over the CT border into the southwestern corner of MA, I could check out YMCA Camp Hi-Rock. It an amazing place right off the AT in between Bear Mt., CT and Mt. Race.

I don't have a problem:thumbup:

I'm in when this comes together. There is potential for some "stealth" camping around my area, but it's tough with a large group and a bunch of cars, so I don't think it would work out for a CT gathering.

Wel looky who's still around. I look forward to camping with you Simon and hearing some of the stories of your journies over the last year:thumbup:

:DJust heard back from the land owner on permission for an overniter or 2 at the river side land I was talking about. We're good to go! No restrictions other than common sense and keep the cars down to 6-8 as to not attract unwanted attention.Locked gate.:D This is an old gravel mine on the Housatonic about 3 miles north of Boardman bridge on the west side of the river. Access from Rt.7 just north of Squash Hollow Rd. Terraced down to flat open field by river for camping. Squash Hollow Brook borders the south side of the property and flows into the Housie there. You might be able to Google Earth it. I havent tried yet.We can do a little day trip/recon once the snow gets off the ground. Will probably take 4wd to get to the river side but we can ferry any one without. Plenty of parking up top.--Keith

Siguy--I tried to pm you but not going through. Give me a call about buzz saw blade or I'll call you if # is same.--KV

Outstanding!! Let me know when you want to check it out, I will be happy to join you.

Lets start planning dates also.

T, As soon as we get a good lookin forecast with no snow on the ground I'll get in touch and we'll run up there. Its about 10 min north of N.M. center. I havent hunted it in several years and it was thick in places then. We will probably need big choppers.:D--I'll be in touch.--KV

Thats a nice area around squash hollow. The blue trail goes through there too, thats not bad hiking, plus Torys cave is right around the corner.
