Well I got back about half an hour ago and I come on here expecting to be hundreds of threads about the CT gathering but not one. Anyways I will do a little recap:

I arrived Saturday at about 9:30ish. The plant walk was already started to I just hopped right in. Let me tell you this, Marty is probably one of the most incredible people I have ever had the pleasure to meet. He went over only about 15 plants for us new guys, though I bet he could have found quite a few more.

Next up was the bow drill demonstration headed by Kevin and Marty. They also threw in a few other ways of starting a fire, all very impressive. It was cool to see in first person how the bow drill and everything else works that I might not get a chance to see.

Next up was the hang around and talk part :D. A few handled the cooking duties and we all feasted the night away.

Today we simply had a little trade fest and a brief over view of what makes up a good PSK.

All and all a veyr fun and informative weekend. My haul from it was an opinel number 8, a bark river aurora, and many other fun and useful things such as a heat sensor that I traded for. I'm sure others will be chiming in at some point with pics and what not.

"Trade, trade, trade?"

Sounds like a great weekend and opportunity to meet many of the forumites!

WOW..that was a good time..I came away from CT with some good friends and lessons learned. Marty Simon is easily one of the coolest guys out there, he is a fantastic teacher that holds your attention, and really gives you great info!! I can't say enough about Marty's plant walk, simply awesome..
Kevin gave a fantastic class on FIRE..something bushcraft guys cant get enough of...I thought I had this stuff down, and I came away from the class with some really KEY info for my personal techniques...fantastic.
I spent alot of time just getting to know everyone..everyone had ALOT of really cool gear and mod ideas..we would look at a knife, and then another..some pack or tool, and then an axe...it was great.
Kevin, on top of bringing a pile of great knives, brought the prototype Bark Rivers that he posted a while back..they were really fun to play with, and I will post a couple pics of my testing later.
Everyone was GOOD PEOPLE, the trading was alot of fun..people were practically throwing stuff at each other...lots of laughs and smiles all around. The feast around the fire on Saturday was awesome..lots of folks pitched in, (Brett, you are the man) and we ate like kings and queens. A fantastic time that goes down as one of my favorite weekends in A LONG TIME.

a view Northeast of my campsite I shared with TRACKER1 and WES (L.U.R.D.)

Rededge, Gene,

I had a blast meeting you guys.

Gene, you are fun as hell to hang out and drink a beer with. We all have to get together again soon. Just got in. I stink, need a shower, and then I can post more later.

Marty and Kevin did a fantastic job of teaching and leading throughour the event.

Theo,

Awesome photos! Keep 'em coming!!!!

Kevin, you have a natural gift for all things outdoors, and just as importantly, you have a gift for conveying and teaching what you know. Marty picked well when he picked you as an instructor. Long live the Blue Dagger. :D

Marty, what can I say? You are the master, and you proved it unconditionally to everyone at the event. Thank you so much for making the trip down -- it was an honor to have you there to share your vast knowledge with us. You and Aggie were such a pleasure to be around, and I can't wait to see you two again in VA.

All Best,

~Brian.

Thanks to the immense generosity of Mike Stewart I was lucky enough to win my first Barkie, an Aurora, in the give-away, and it most certainly won't be my last. :D
