CT wilderness gathering part II

Guys,
Some work issues have arisen and attendance is now in doubt. I will see if I can get there for part of the weekend.
Sometimes grownup responsibilities really suck!

Ok, I’ve got 30 plus knives in the box, lots of Barkies, some Dozier’s, Customs, and some rare blades.

More knives will be added between now and Saturday morning, no doubt.

My plan is to do a recon trip tomorrow evening, then to show up with one of my buddies on Saturday morning.

Anybody wanting to check out some Bark River knives should seek me out (I’ll be the big buy in the cowboy hat).

I look forward to seeing you all there.

PS – I was not planning on bringing my Bark River kitchen knives, but if somebody wants to check them out let me know and I’ll pack them also.

Thats awesome Mike, You have an amazing collection that I saw last time we met, I can't wait to check out more. I will be bringing about 20 knives myself, all from Custom makers.

Cool Tony.

I’ve got some nice new Barkies, including the Big-Sky Bowie, Custom Woodland/Highland Combo, the KSF Machette, a Slither, my Mod’ed Gameskeeper II, as well as a sweet Jim Stewart Custom in S30V.

I also have the BRK&T passaround Aurora in my possession that will be available for testing.

I look forward to seeing more of your knives.

mike, thanks very much for the recon.

i look forward to handling all the knives.

i'll have along my pile of beaters as well as my new bark river nebula and mikro canadian. both have already been used so far, but everyone can handle them and play with them.

also got my box of blades back from paul bos, i will try to finish a couple for everyone to play with and test out.

That’s great Simon.

After visiting the site the other day I realized that it’s virtually in your backyard.

I look forward to seeing some of your work.

Any idea of the headcount as of now? I was going to bring some corn & want to make sure I bring enough.

I'm actually not going to make it this weekend guys. I was looking forward to meeting everyone but it will have to wait for the next gathering.
Sorry about the short notice and I hope everyone has a good time. I look forward to seeing some pics.

Sorry to hear you guys can't make it.

I think we still have a solid count between 6 and 15 right?

Akabu are you gonna make this sir?

Tony, I also am in Gimps boat. Sorry but some family matters popped up early today & I will be unable to attend on Sunday. I hope to meet you and other great folks here at another time. Being an hour away, mabey we can put something informal together in the near future. Again... sorry.
Kind regards.

How late are folks planning on staying on Sunday? I'm thinking maybe I'll take an early drive up on Sunday for the day.

sorry guys will not be able to make it,as it stands right now son is getting ready for Deployment and have to spend time with him and grand kids.
Looking forward to a after trip report.

akabu, enjoy your time with your son and grandkids, don't worry about the trip there will be plenty more.

i'm leaving in about an hour, gotta stop off at a grocery store along the way and grab a couple of things.

i'm excited to do some more experimenting with my sleeping arrangements.

open invitation, anyone that wants to come please feel free. i'll be there the whole weekend at least, and most of the guys will be there for most of it. if you are coming un-announced just make sure you bring enough chow for yourself.

I was planning on riding my motorcycle up there to check out the river crossing conditions, but the rain here in Litchfield County is keeping the bike in the garage.

I still plan on coming up in the morning.

I would love to know if the river is down form when I was there the other day.

Suggest you set up Markers for late comers and cord across for low water point.
There are Supermarket' s/ Pizza/ Gas ect. just before the take off point.
Would suggest PU water as my over look of the site shows to many sources of pollution.
just my $.o2

i stopped by yesterday but no one was at the site. I waited a bit then took off. Unfortunately, that was the only time I could get to the gathering. The water was a bit higher than usual but still easy to get across if you borrowed a shop canoe. Weather will be hit or miss this weekend.

Have a blast and post plenty of pictures.

Unfortunately, work kept me in the hospital friday night & late into saturday morning, and I was unable to attend the gathering (after being up & running around for 28 hours, I could barely keep my eyes open). I hope everyone had a good time. Can't wait to see some more pics.
