I'm surprised that there are people who want to get rid of the Viele, especially since it has been redesigned with VG-10 and an eccentric pivot. I think it also sells pretty well also.

I strongly agree with the previous folks who have suggested that you pick up Tim Wegner's Mouse as a regular addition to the Spyderco line! The Mouse is by far the best small knife I have ever used. If you don't have the rights to it see if you can buy them!

I'd just like to recommend that the trainers be retained. Many law enforcement instructors and martial artists are now using them, and they are very valuable for those purposes. For example, one of my friends from the military could afford to buy only one Gunting at this time and decided that it was more important for the trainer to be his first purchase.

Another Spyderco that could be culled is the FRN Cricket. The frame is too weak to support the liner lock and it is potentially dangerous.
 
Not only is there a remarkable degree of agreement on this topic but it is equally striking that not one person has mentioned dropping the Military. Perhaps it is time for Sal to seriously consider going forward with the reduced size version? Sid
 
I agree that it should be market decision only..what sells what doesn't..
no one forces anyone to buy a knife or trainer they don't want..
Why make it open to public thought?
bottom line is what sells..

Yup that includes my GUNTING system..if it ever doesn't sell..why keep it?

Tough choices, I'm very surprised a few chose the Spydercard. Looking at the archives suggests it's fairly popular.
 
For right now, I'm going to give my opinion on what SHOULD NOT BE DROPPED from the line:

Police model, SS
Co-Pilot

(I just wanted to emphasize how much I love these models. I like the extra heft of the stainless handles. They give a good mix of solidity and also can be clipped snugly to pockets without tearing up the pocket material.)

IMO the SS Police model is one of the flagship knives of the Spyderco line and I find carry and use very comfortable and not heavy at all. I like it a lot more than the G-10 version for a number of reasons.

I, for one, am voting to KEEP as many of the SS handled options as are feasible, esp. my 2 above-mentioned.
