Cult classic movies.

I just got done watching "Prince of Darkness" again, by John Carpenter. Most of John Carpenter's stuff falls under the 'cult' status.

A bad movie that has some merit is "Black Star", the John Carpenter one.

Dark Star was John Carpenter's first film.....good pick.

"Don't give me any of that intelligent life crap, just give me something I can blow up."

And +1 for Repo Man, A Boy and His Dog, The Hitcher, Day of the Triffids, Carnival of Souls, and Plan 9 from Outer Space.

Now on to.....

This Is Spinal Tap
Barbarella
Things to do in Denver When You're Dead
Poison Ivy
Crybaby
Dark City
Fade to Black - with Dennis Cristopher, Tim Thomerson, and Mickey Rourke
Cherry 2000
Hellraiser I, II, & III

Film noir that received wide distribution and may become cult classics:
Donny Darko
Memento
The Machinist
American Psycho

- The Boy who cried Werewolf
- Wild at heart

I remember seeing Gargoyles available at a DVD store a few years ago, but put off buying it due to its price...to my regret. I think it's out of print now, and very hard to find. I'd like to find a copy, too.

An interesting John Carpenter film that doesn't get too much ink is "They Live!" Oddly, it stars a pro wrestler named Roddy Piper, but the story is unique.

Big Trouble in Little China is a cult classic, but I never did like that very much myself.

I liked the animated film "Wizards" back in the '70s when I was a kid, and it's still not bad, but IMO it hasn't held up as well over time as some movies. When I bought the DVD and saw it a few years ago, it just seemed really dated.

Here's one for you. It's a vampire flick simply called "Habit" that I ran into recently.

The film is an independent movie that won quite a following during the 97-2000 timeframe. At the time, the Chicago Tribune labeled it "The most believable Vampire flick I have ever seen".

If you are interested and want to read some reviews, Amazon has a collection of them on this film as well as some of the other sites that host movie reviews and ratings.
