Shoooot with the work you have put into keeping the ole thing going Ide try everything in the book to get the blade back to useable shape before retiring it!!! Then if/when I failed...Ide put it in the drawer and start fresh with the next one.

Good luck either way!

Matt

I’ve never tried to straighten a blade. Will do some googling and see what works for people. Might give it a shot

Eagerly awaiting the response either way. Either you keep old faithful chugging on, or you get a new nut to show us all .
Every which way is a winner 👍

I was leaving this morning for a road trip and my GEC 33 didn’t fit well in my watch pocket, so I grabbed my recently neglected Peanut!

I still have a slightly bent clip blade (I’m over it) and I superglued the broken bone scale back together. Good as it gets! Poor knife has seen better days but will faithfully serve for plenty more years.

Most folks don't like the smaller frame knives but, here in this cult thread, we have each come to enjoy them for a variety of reasons. I was given one by my grandfather when I was a kid (still have it) and I really like a useful knife that fits in the coin pocket. They are also easily obtainable without spending a fortune and available in a wide selection of covers, etc. I recommend trying one out and see if you like it :)

Is that Old Timer called a "peanut"? Doesn't have the pen, like the Case. Nice knife!
Hello John,

Now that you ask, I can't say for sure if it is generally called the Peanut; good question. Yes it does lack the pen blade. Back at the station I heard it referred to as the peanut. It was more popular than the Case Peanut, because it was easier to open with farmers hands.

Edit. I think you are right, John, the Schrade 12OT is not officially called a Peanut. Oops. I did a little online snooping and learned that there is indeed a Schrade 72OT Dog Leg Jack that is Schrade's version of the Peanut, sans pen blade. It was in the Schrade catalogue from 1986 to 1996. I did not know that, but learned something right there.

Now the search is on for a nice NOS 72OT... 🍻
