Cult of the peanut , members

Hello,

I hope that this is the right place to ask for information.

I am probably the only person here who has neither seen or handled a Peanut, they are as scarce as hen's teeth where I live.

How does the Peanut compare in size to a Buck 373, which I regard as a rather small knife.

Can someone be so kind and post a comparative side by side picture, as I would like to get a feel for the size of the Peanut.

Thank you.

I don't have a Buck 373, but I do have several Buck 303's, which are the same dimensions as the 373.

The peanut is intermediate in size between a 309 and a 305.
Here is a quick camera pic of

Thanks for responding.

I now have a better feel for the actual size of the Peanut.

They are a lot smaller than I imagined LOL.

Cheers.

It seems i helped to spread the peanut cult overseas too, well, in Romania actually, where on a local knife forum, there are now 5 people that enjoy carrying and using a peanut most of the time.
There, i am the local High Muckba :D, while here, i am a proud member.

Always two there are, a master and an apprentice. The Emperor didn't really adhere to that, I think Carl has other apprentices out there...

:D

5 members that use to carry a 'nut? Wow - that´s quite a number. When I use to chime in the german knife forum - there is the response: "Way too small" "Strange, no high end steel" etc etc pp.
It seems in good ol Romania people appreciate good knife pattern more than here - at least as far as I know ;) - I have to say: I don´t spend too much time in the german forum, as I like this place for its special people much much more than the german site.

Andi, I'm afraid it all started almost 70 years ago with the Battle of Bastogne. Ever since General McAuliffe replied to the request of General Luttwitz for the surrender of Bastogne, the Peanut just hasn't been very popular with Germans. Most people don't really understand the reference or the battle. What McAuliffe was telling Luttwitz is that the 101st Airborne was secretly armed with Peanut knives and that Luttwitz should surrender or be defeated. Luttwitz must took the word "nuts" as in "crazy" and didn't really understand the gravity of the situation. If he had know he'd be facing so many Peanut knives, he probably would have pulled back until the Germans could outfit their army with Peanuts. :)

Your version of history is cracking me up, Woodrow! But it apparently explains a lot :):)

Everyone to Battle Stations!!!!

Capt Rsmith has launched an incursion into our little world here! A dastardly sneak-attack (obviously borne of a deep-seated envy and insecurity)! lol
