Cult of the peanut , members

Mine are not nearly as nice as zippo's but if mine could talk I'd love to hear their story.

Very good representation of the cult there!

The next meeting of the double secret council of elders, I'm going to make a motion that the Buck 309 companion be granted honorary cult recognition and granted visiting rites at meetings. This is influence from the outstanding service my friend Wayne gets from his. It has amazed me by being of the giant small knife status.
:D

Carl.

Yeah, if you let the Companions in, then the Lancers will want in too, and before you know it, Sebenzas and Combat Mistresses will want in on the action, too. ;)

Not if visitor status requires a maximum closed length of 3 inches and two blades!:D

Some priorities still will be enforced!

Well said. I can vote for that plan! What about the one-bladers, though, like the single-blade tiny toothpicks?

It seems the spirit of the cult might encompass any blade number, sub-3" closed, slip joint? 'Cause, you know, my small stockman would get all jealous of the others otherwise...

By the way, Zippofan, what do think of the Lancer?

Wow, really like that tiny trapper with the wharnie. Zippo, would you mind a side by side shot with the peanut?

I guess it must be a typo on the website, it doesn't weigh any more than any of my Case Peanuts. The spacers are steel rather than brass, blades are VG-10 but neither contributes to the weight that much.

It is a tremendous slicer, the blades are ground very thin and sharp. Good thing too, I'm not sure how good I'll be sharpening VG-10 ;)

Great info Zippo, and gorgeous knife. It looks a bit broader than a Case (a good thing), how does it feel in hand compared to a Case? Is it at all thicker?

I'm not Zippofan, and I apologize for the poor lighting, but here are mine.

Wow that blue is nice. I think the tiny might be too tiny for me. But thanks for the great pics!

I protest!

This is rampant discrimination!

Prejudice against sub-3", three blade knives in unfair! :thumbdn:

Peanut pushers repent!

When, oh when, will we have equal rights for the Jr. Stockman? :D

"The Cult reserves the right to refuse admittance to anyone."

The junior stockmen will just have to get a lawyer.
:D

Caught this fella trying to cross our perimeter.

And a cute little fella he is!

I do have to admit I like and can see the utility of the junior stockman. Small pocket package that weighs almost nothing, yet give three blades of utility for wide use. I spent too many years carrying stockman to deny them the usefulness factor. I loved the Buck cadet I carried for a few years.

I guess it's like the BMW motorcycle club I was in. Most of the members were die hard boxer twin fanatics, but they couldn't deny the K series bikes were great bikes. So there was the old boxer guys and the younger flying brick guys in the club. I have to admit I like all the peanut sized little pocketknives out there. The junior stockmen, tiny trappers and toothpicks. But I just happen to be into the peanut because of my old man. Kind of family legacy thing. Dad was, and still is a strong influence on me, even though he's been gone so many years now. Heck, I still shoot the old Ruger standard model I paid 39.95 for because I figured if a .22 pistol was good enough for him, it was good enough for me. And it was. I still wonder in the quiet places in the back of my mind if somehow he influenced me that fateful morning I had the impulse to slip his old peanut in my pocket before going off to work.

But any of the little guys have the spirit of the thing. A small knife that disappears in the pocket until you need to open a package or cut something. I often wonder if a peanut state of mind exists?

Aw heck, it's the 4th of July and he's American, let him in and he can be put on clean up duty or other work. We'll put him a strict probation status.:D

Maybe the cult will let in peanut size knives, but they can't serve on the double secret high council of cult elders.

Carl.

Thanks Carl, for the generous opening, and Pete for breaching the barrier, because stockman month has allowed this guy to become almost as pocket friendly and useful to me as my peanut.

After reading this great thread, I think I know what my next purchase is going to be next week.

I currently have a case pen knife in yeller. I can see that the peanut is a bit smaller and the blades are side by side, but other than that, are there differences in the blades between the pen and peanut?

Well, the peanut's main blade is a bit smaller than the pen's, but the pen blades on both are just about the same size. The other significant difference is that the peanut has half-stops, while your pen doesn't.
