custom becker (pics)

Did some more mods last night to the BK-7.
Finished the choil, added jimping, convexed the edge, and changed the swedge.
Still a few more mods to do and then clean her up real good, but I want to see if I like it before I do more work.

Here is what I've got so far.

Next to my stock BK-7.

I do like the choil already and the de ramping!! I think with the mods so far, I am going to like this knife a lot more.
With this set up, I can already tell it is going to be a better woods knife. Why didn't I choil it before now? :D

I will try and take some better pics today.
 
You will definitely be glad you added the custom features to your 7. I happen to like the larger choil. It makes it easier for me to choke up for finer tasks. Nice idea to elongate the jimping. It looks like you added a convex edge. Good work so far.

As you know it's a lot of work to mod these blades but so worth it. Mine is not anywhere as nice as yours tho.

And yes I love convex edges.
The jimping fits and feels great and works nicely when choking up.

Nice job on the choil, although choils are not my thing. But EXCELLENT job getting rid of the thumb ramp. If it weren't for the thumb ramp, I'd probably have a BK-7. Instead, I have a BK-17.
 
Tastes vary, but I like the 7's thumb ramp-----------------and also love the BK17. Kinda like Dr. Awesome and Mini Awesome.
 
So I tried the Modded BK-7 out this weekend. Did some batoning, carving, and other small tasks. I do like it a lot better after the mods and the choil is very awesome. I found myself trying to choke up on other knives after using the 7 for a while. Might choil more blades after this.
I still find it a little long for my taste especially when carving small things. It does baton better and is not a bad chopper. I see why many of you like this blade. I would still prefer something bigger like the 9 paired with an 11 or 16 or have something smaller like the 10.

I am for sure gonna use this knife more from now on but still prefer BK-10 or BK-12.
I do respect her a little more now.

Thanks! Might do a few small changes later like file down the handles some to make her fit better in the hand when using the Choiled position grip.
I love using my modded knives! It's like once you put all that work into a knife, it becomes part of you and you feel more connected to the blade.
 
Ok so this is my first post here. I wanna start by saying that everything I have seen here has been amazing. Also an amazing group of helpful guys. Now to introduce my first Becker. Its a BK-7. It is not near as custom as the ones seen here, but its always a work in progress. I have only had it about 2 weeks. I got it, took it out camping, beat it up some and decided on a few changes.
