custom bushbeater for a bf member

I need to get more pics of testing, right now I think the only actual photos of the stumps is monkeybutt's chopper.

And I totally forgot to photograph the sheath on Csaba's, which koyote girl is making me pay for.

Cristof,
Why do you like a clip point on the choppers you make? Seems to work but just wondering.

the blades are very broad and long, and the clip helps with the balance and the utility. They are choppers, but at 1/8 inch with the convex edge, they are very functional as regular knives- We've used them in the kitchen here, too and for general chores.

So the long clip besides being in keeping with the bowie influenced style help with the geometry of the tip, looks, and balance. I like doing a straight spine on a blade of 1.25 or even 1.5 inches breadth, but these models can hit 2 inches pretty easily.

Since they are guardless, the dropped edge provides a "poor boy" guard, and the broad blade helps with the machete like performance. They also stick better when I throw them, though they aren't really throwing knives so I guess that's not a huge deal :D

YEP :D If I can, I'm actually not quite there on my ki for throwing the super light stuff as well. Once I get those 16 penny nails going in all the time I'll be set!

Damn bro that is a beast:eek: Looks good, but I prefer your thinner blades. I beat the crap out of the big boy in 1/8th I got from you and it has held through like a champ.

I would love to see that.

That's a big knife!
How about "BAK?" (Big-A$$ed Knife).:D

Here is a pick of a Koyote 1/8 beeing pounded through some oak. knots and all.

At the W.L.C. it went through a piece of hard ass maple. The piece of wood was thick that only about an inch & a 1/2 of the blade was showing at other end. It went through when a even thicker blade failed to get through at a knot. I will admit, I was sort f fearful at first but hammered it through anyway.

Thanks, tony, I knew I had another one of those photos. I usuaally do the throwing after the temper but before the scales go on.

Impressive! I imagine that the knife avoids binding it the wood. With that thin and strong convex edge?

nah, that one's tonym's, he's had it for a while now :)

the ipe handled one in the set of photos i put up yesterday is monkeybutt's.

I've got one going to a family member and then it's time to do up more. The coffin handle really works well with that blade. Though I think of it a bit more dogbone than real coffin.

Absolutely true. It chops great for a knife of its size and weight. The thin blade squeaks through tuff woods w/ ease when batoning:thumbup:
