Custom Low Rider pocket clips

It depends on how you want it. Are we talking flipping the clip to tip up carry or staying with it tip down?

Tip down or tip up is $30 plus shipping but if you do that for tip up its just threading the G10 only. For $10 more I insert metal inlayed threaded stainless inserts on the underside to screw the clip down with. G10 holds threads ok but I always recommend not making it a habit of taking the clip on and off a lot. Also, never use loctite or super glue in the holes or overtweak the screws. Using glue or loctite would cause the screw to strip the threads the first time you backed one out.

Overtweaking one does the same thing. I could always insert threaded inserts after that happened also.

Its your call there. Also please read post number one in this thread before mailing anything to me. It will explain a lot.

Thanks

I have had problems with Canada customs so whenever I deal with one of our Candadian neighbors I always am sure to make sure they don't hold me responsible if their knife disappears on them. I mail everything promptly and usually quite quick as far as total turn around times so there is no way anything should take any 4 or 6 weeks from me. If that happens, as it has with Canada I count them as gone at that point.

Most often, unless I have the knife myself I will need the knives from folks to make the clips.

Thanks

Nice clips, love the designs and the care you obviously put in =)

Was wondering if you could do a low-rider clip for the large Sebenza (classic)?

Also, if I had a BM42 would you be able to tap it and install a clip?

No to both knives. Sorry. I don't work on autos or balis and would prefer not to get them even mailed to me.

No but I have one and have never figured out a way to do it without drilling and threading new holes. Something I have just refused to do. I've found that knives like that one that have an inlay in them for the clip to sit in are particularly troublesome to work around and when I have drilled new holes and remounted them those are just not that good looking even when I've recessed a titanium plate in them to fill it up evenly.

STR

Oic, thanks for the info. Yeah, I was wondering how the recessed end of the clip was going to work out. Thanks!! Too bad though =) It would make me more willing to carry around my Sebenza =)

Yeah I know it. I love the Sebbie too but it could ride lower. I just can't bring myself to drill into mine though.

Hey STR. I've looked through this post to see if you have done any foldover/low-ride clips for the ZT0200 and the ZT0301 but did not see any reference to one. So my question is, have you done these? thanks for any input.

No I have not even been asked to on those but I have had one 200 and two of the 301s and the holes in the factory clips are too close together to use the exisiting hole pattern. Also, the 200 is stainless so drilling holes in it and threading them is out of the question. I'd pass on that but could probably install a threaded insert on the underside of the scale and thread into that.

I'd hate to do it though because those knives are near to perfect as they are. I really should have kept one of the 301s but both went to good homes.

You know that may be one of the reasons I let them go because there is really little I can do to them to entertain myself. :D

Seriously, the bigger knives are always a question mark to me about sticking them too deep in the pocket. I just don't much care for them personally. On some of the longer ones they can bottom out on you before they seat all the way because you run out of pocket. On others they are so heavy that its that much more difficult to get them out when you want them.

Your call. I ask that you read post #1 in this thread, as I do for everyone that is thinking to mail out something to me. That is if you haven't already read it and then once you know the routine you can go from there.

Thanks

Thanks for the straight talk STR. I wondered about the closness of the holes myself, and if they would be a hinderence to mounting a foldover clip. I guess I'll leave good enough alone because they really are good enough as is!

You are quite welcome. No worries. I'd keep it like it is too.

Here's a picture of a olive green low rider made my STR for my Military last year. In the picture, the original clip is attatched with the low rider clip placed over it.

Just a line to thank Steve for his great job flipping my Spec Bump to tip up carry. My knife was out and back in about five days and it cost me next to nothing. Thanks again for some great work.

Just pay the shipping and buy me a pop and pay for the screws and cut off disc I need to cut them down to size and we'll call it even. Probably about $10 unless I have to supply the clip. I think I do have one of each of those laying around here. I prefer the black one personally. I think they were $5 each or something but I don't recall and of course there was shipping on that. But $5 is fine.

I also recommend you read post number one in this thread before mailing. Once you have the routine email me and we'll go from there.

Thanks

Steve-

Boy, I've spent the last 45 min wading throught this thread, and I'm afraid I'll still have to ask about a clip for a knife that may have come up before, and I apologize for that, anyways, I have a Spyderco Salt 1 with the yellow FRN, have you worked something up for that before?? I'm definitely going for low rider, something that mimics the factory clip as well, maybe a little wider. Dark Bronze color?? Thanks much, you can reply here or PM which ever.
