No I just wanted to make sure that I could use stainless or any of the CPM steels If I wanted. I just got some thin stock of goodies in the other week from Crucible. Bolos are my favorite so there may at least be one there if I can come up with something.
Sounds like a great idea but I think many of the makers around here cannot make a 12" or larger machete because their heat treat ovens are not large enough.
It will be a test of innovation. Some heat treat guys here have tubes where it can stick out on the end, others may be able to forge it out and do it by sight.
I've seen really long blades ehat treated with charcoal pits. Not saying it's my preference, but it could be done.
I think the problem right now is the holidays, and half of us aren't even thinking about it until after yule or whatever. I'm excited but I know I won't be starting ntil january.
Edit: Well, as so I don't offend a good friend I will make something else. It will still be bolo-ish but just a bit different. I'll get busy designing it tonight.
