CUSTOM MACHETE Challenge!

THE AXE HANDLE

THAT IS WHAT IT IS CALLED!

Please allow me to express my excitement at a name for the shape of handle that is at the top of my list for coolest handle shape of all time. I've been a fan of this shape.
HAZAA!

Rick you be genius. Big words strong man good you.
 
Things are definitely underway. I really look forward to swinging some of these custom beauties! :D
 
Sooooo.... I happen to have a 24" x 2" x 1/4" piece of O1 laying around and am stupid enough to be considering throwing my Newbie hat into this ring. It would be my first Blade longer than 12" Please talk me out of this!

I already have a design drawn up but don't dare start on this thing! Especially when my finished product will put up against the likes of those posted previously!

Don't forget to go get other makers guys. If the timing sucks, we can always extend it!

My forge is outside so I hope to get a few decent days soon to play. If not I do have some 1.5" x 3/16" 1095 I can grind it out of. But I'm hoping to use 1/4" x 2" 5160 forged

just curious, im assuming fit and finish are going to be of importance as well......second to performance of course:)

or are the builds going to be based on performance alone?
 
You guys are killing me... OK I am in but when you open the box and the scales came off during shipping just say you lost my entry...;)

The Chicken comment put me over the top. I will get going on it tomorrow!:o

I look at these websites of people entering this challenge and know I am in way over my head. Some of you other newbies better step up to the plate with me!
 
just cause a guy has a web site dont make him a knife maker.....i know im probably in way over my head as well, but ya never know till ya try right??

besides the more the merrier:P
 
Here are my Design Plans, I have two that I drew up and am having a hard time choosing between them. The first one seems a little Sword-ish but I like it the best, and I think it falls in the Machete category (it will definitely Chop). the Second is going to be a Beast and probably falls in Ricks (Beheading Sword). I a going to cut them both out (Sorry no forging for me) and see which one feels best for this Challenge.
