Custom order group therapy thread

I'm just afraid that I'll never be able to buy a regular production knife again haha. Now that I've reached the stage of contacting makers and having them create a piece, by themselves, from nothing, specifically for me, I don't think standard knives will ever quite live up to what I've come to expect from my collection. I suppose it's that way with just about anything though... If I started buying custom tailored suits, I don't think I'd ever feel the same about suits I can buy off the hangers at a department store. They may be nice, some may be just as nice, but they're not "mine".

I know exactly what you mean...

Being a lefty very few production companies (and even custom makers) make knives that suit me.

I'm waiting on an Andrew Demko AD10. Hopefully will be ready sometime in November/December

I just emailed Andrew. I hope he's still taking orders, I'd love to get my hands on an AD10. If you don't mind me asking, how much is it going to cost you? You can PM me if you'd like that sort of thing to stay private.

Im currently waiting on a Dozier KS7 Wilderness, an Off the Map Custom Bushcrafter, and a Koster Bushcraft (the 2012 list). Soon to add a Murray Carter neck knife, and a Fredrik Haakonsen 10" Chopper to the wait list. The Carter is about a year or two, and the Haakonsen is 3-4 months.

I have a Haakonsen Survival knife coming in a couple weeks so all my excitement is focused on that one. Then the Dozier should be ready around January 2013, and the Koster whenever I get an email... ;)

Oh right, I also have a Woodlore on order that should be ready in 2020...
Seriously, the expected wait time was 10 years.

Cheers!

Just got an email that one of the knife maker's I ordered from will begin working on my knife next week!!!

To say I'm excited would be an understatement! :triumphant:

Currently waiting on a Peter Marzitelli Tork 2. Secondary market, so not made for me specifically but it's my first non-production folder so I'm pretty psyched. Can't wait til it gets here.

Congratulations man! Which one was it?

I hope to be hearing from Jeremy about the El Patron some time in October, I can't wait to share the excitement. Then I'll be two months closer to my Direwares too :D

I to am waiting on a Direware Solo with flipper, CF, bronze lock side, and light tumbled blade. I just put my order in so it will probably be awhile for that one. Other than that I have a JBS Micro Butcher with CF scales and s30v blade and a balisong from CM, both of those should be done within the next month or so.

It is the JBS Tools wharncliffe folder in a lefty configuration, D2 acid stonewash, black G10 and dark-flamed Ti clip and liners. So this one is blacked out!

After that I have:

Alan Davis (4-6 months ordered in July)
Doc Shiffer (6-8 months ordered end of August)
Jake Hoback (8-12 months ordered beginning of August)
WR Bladeworks (12 months ordered end of August)
Kendrick Knives (3 years ordered end of August)

I also hope to get a hold of Sniper Bladeworks sometime at the beginning of 2013. I contacted them but they're far to busy to deal with me now which is totally understandable. I'm sure the wait time on that one will be a while!

Waiting since march for my gareth bull warlock and i don't think i can wait any longer!!!

So when I finally have the money set aside for a custom Murray Carter, I get told he isnt accepting any custom orders at them moment... so I guess that ones gonna wait..

On the plus side, I am making the final payment on the Fredrik Haakonsen Survival Knife, so it will be in my hand next week!:thumbup:

I don't want to start any rumors because I can't say anything aside from a hunch, but I've been emailing Scott Cook because a Lochsa from him is honestly my ultimate grail knife. He hasn't been taking orders since October of 2010, but the last email I got from him sounded pretty promising. I just requested that he save my email address so he can let me know when he'll be taking orders again, and I got an email back pretty quickly about a "Bench list" and that he'd give me notice of when he'd be taking orders again. That's not verbatim, but what he said gave me a hunch that it'd be the near future, and also that the last wait time I had heard from him was 2 years (which 2 years ago was around when he stopped taking orders for the Lochsa) so I'm hoping I can get on the list early when he starts up again.

I don't know, maybe it's just wishful thinking, or my imagination and hope is playing tricks on me, but I sure hope my hunch is right.

I have wanted a Lochsa for years! I missed the last opening by a day... I was pissed.. so ever since, I refresh his page every day so I dont miss the next opening.

I emailed him several times over the years, but never got a reply... I gave up and figured Id just wait for the list to open and try again...

when he opens his books back up I'm gonna order a Warlock v2 with a damasteel blade. I was talking to him about making interchangeable blades so we could just order replacement blades but he said it would be hard because all knives are fitted by hand.

If he does eventually do interchangeable blades, I'm ordering an m390, damasteel, and a spare rwl34 :D

There's an El Patron that just popped up on bladehq, expect it's going to last less than an hour. I would get it myself but I just dropped 400 last week on an sng.

Interesting, I didn't know it weights a whopping 6 oz. Mine should be done in a few weeks.
