Yep. This one pushed me over the edge. Got a 110 ordered this evening.Oh shoot I think I’m going to have to finally build a custom.
Same. I ordered mine with rivets. Just in case....this knife isn't going to be sitting in a drawer. It will be used.
Not yet. I'm sure it can happen but it's not something I worry about. They can always fix it. Looks are importantI ordered mine without rivets, because I have one of the Buck Collectors Club 112s with KOA wood & no rivets, and I like the clean looks. Has anybody had the adhesive fail & the scales fall off? I know adhesives have come a long way, but this knife isn't going to be sitting in a drawer. It will be used. Just checking, because at this point I can still contact Buck & change my mind.
I am probably not the best person to answer his question since I am an office worker and my cutting chores are pretty lightweight. I have a 501 from the Custom Shop in S30v and a couple of the Larrins 501 from the stealth run of which one is my EDC. The biggest difference that I have seen is that the Magnacut seems to hold an edge longer than the S30v. Both are super easy to sharpen using Spyderco benchstones or the Sharpmaker. I have always been vey happy with S30v but Magnacut seems to take what I like about S30v and make it even better. Hopefully someone who uses their knife heavily will chime in.Does anyone already have a Buck knife in Magnacut? If so, how does the steel perform in comparison to Magnacut from other brands?*
Regardless, I am glad that they will now be offering something other than 420HC and S30V.
*yes, I know that the endless debate over steel performance is almost irrelevant as most end users honestly will not be able to notice the difference in performance during normal use and any measurable differences are primarily reliant on the prowess of the manufacturer's heat treatment and cautious grinding to avoid burning the edge. Notwithstanding that, we are knife knuts and minute improvements obviously matter to us.
It can happen but it seems to be pretty rare. I have a couple magnacut knives from Buck and they seem to perform just as you’d expect them to. I’ve not really tested them too much to where I even needed to sharpen them, but I think Buck did a great job with it. Hopefully this fall I can get out and do some camping and enjoy them some more. I’m very happy with mine so far.

I think I'll let the order as it is. On the off chance that a scale(s) come loose, Buck can fix it, or maybe even add rivets. And if that happens, I suppose I could find another knlfe laying around here that I can use while it's getting fixed. It can happen but it seems to be pretty rare. I would love to see a magnacut 110 drop point too!!Happy days!
I'd like to see a drop point 110 blade too, no nail nick. But I can wait.
I like nickel with elk. If I had a brass elk, I'd obsessively flitz the bolsters to keep them shiny and it would drive me up the wall. You guys think brass or nickel looks better with elk? I’m leaning towards nickel.
