Customer Service a Joke!!

I had a problem on sunday with a broken torsion bar on my knife. I went to the web site and ordered a new one ... It was a piece of cake.
The only thing I would like to see is an email with confirmation that my order was received and or shipped.

I was pretty upset with CS because they wouldn't change the serial # on my 0551 to #1241, which happens to be the number of women I slept with during my career as a navy seal
:( a-holes!

For what it's worth, I've always had very positive experiences with your customer service, especially with warranty work. I send several items a month to several different manufacturers for warranty work for my place of business, and yours are always the quickest to come back. The turnaround time is averaging about 1 week, even with 3-4 items in a request. (Most are averaging about 1 month or longer.)

Thanks!

I live in the Philippines and when I got my first ZT 301 I emailed KAI saying I wanted to buy an extra torsion bar. Well, without much ado Cheryl sent me these(see pic) and wouldn't even let me pay for shipping. So, I'd say that Kershaw/ZT customer service is seriously excellent.

I am getting ready to call CS and see about getting a replacement pocket clip and spring (torsion bar) for my zt300. Excellent knife, the pocket clip bent and ruined the screws when I snagged it at a construction site in Zambia. The assisted opening spring broke stateside. No idea how that happened, it had been opened and closed several thousand times so maybe it died of old age. Calling Kershaw CS has been on my very long to-do list for a couple of weeks now but I can't imagine having a problem when I do, judging by ThomasW's response to cs issues in the past.

No issues with ZT Customer support, Sarah Pratt handled my question then. The forum has been helpful too when I experience an off center blade rubbing against the liner. :)

Some of the best customer service I have ever dealt with. Period. Out of the big three they are the top in service by far. I sent back a blur for a broken spring and someone at CS didn't like the wear I had put on the blade. Knife came back with a working spring and new blade.

I sent an email probably a week or so ago about possibly getting another scale for my 0302. I'm a lefty, and snagged the pocket clip, now the holes are chipped and clip won't screw back on. Not so much a big deal as I also have a 301 which I'm now using, but i still haven't received an email back

Probably got lost - send it again to warrantyinfo@kai-usa.com

As an update...I received an email from Brittany Shanafelt that was full of info like when they are shipping and how to make the repairs.

In fact Thomas, You will be happy to hear as a result of your great customer service and this line from Brittany's email...
"As always, there is no charge for this service." My friend said he knows what knife company will get his hard earned money...Kershaw / ZT.

My three experiences with Kershaw's customer service have been perfect. Two torsion springs and one clip on a RAM to replace the Gavin Hawk custom clip that I purchased at the Blade show from the Hawk's table.

On a different note, I think this Kershaw Forum is a joke... a marketing gimmick that no one at Kershaw takes seriously. If Kershaw took this forum seriously the list of changes would look something like the following:
1. There would be plenty of these various Rick Hinderer knives available on a regular basis.
2. There would be actual knives available from the ZT line.
3. Small changes to knives talked about on the forum would be implemented in the knives discussed. Example- tiny little, sharp, unuseable thumbstuds on the Salvo would be changed. Or, making a larger leek, or....
4. Making these super high speed, but expensive limited editions for the general public instead of the voters at Blade show. Still waiting on a few I saw in 2009.

Those are some examples just off the top of my head. I'm sure more could be added. Why doesn't Kershaw change? Most likely, following the money, the "walmart" knives with the shi**y steel and AO's make all the money for KAI. You don't need to change anything for the fanboys when you've got your "walmart" knives. Just string 'em along.

I mean, at least Buck Knives had the cojones to drop those lying strider douches. Stop acting like some corporate monolith.

Hey, Thomas, you asked, you shall receive. And this isn't some random troll post. I own two shallots, one Salvo, one NeedWork, and one RAM.

Good to hear.

On a different note,
In the future you may look to keep on subject. If you want to rant, don't look to kill a perfectly legit thread with soap box drivel.

I think this Kershaw Forum is a joke... a marketing gimmick that no one at Kershaw takes seriously.
I take the forum seriously. You think my time is so worthless I spend countless hours on here for amusement answering posts like this?

BTW, marketing isn't a gimmick...it's pretty serious stuff as well.

Additionally I don't think we would have given away more knives than everyone else here combined if we didn't take this all seriously.

If Kershaw took this forum seriously the list of changes would look something like the following
If you took the Kershaw forum seriously, you might realize that your post is inaccurate and boarding on being out of bounds.

1. There would be plenty of these various Rick Hinderer knives available on a regular basis.
I wish as well, yet I'm unsure how lack of Hinderer inventory translates into us not taking the forum seriously. Although enthusiastic with the designs, the forum wasn't responsible for the relationship.

2. There would be actual knives available from the ZT line.
Unsure of what you're speaking about.
3. Small changes to knives talked about on the forum would be implemented in the knives discussed. Example- tiny little, sharp, unuseable thumbstuds on the Salvo would be changed. Or, making a larger leek, or....
Changes have happened. I'm confused. You're speaking as though we don't listen here, which couldn't be further from reality.

In looking at your past posts, I found this in a "Your favorite Kershaw Knife" thread:

Kersaw Salvo w/ dlc coating, plain edge- incredible knife for the cost of $45. Steel framelock, grippy inserts, steel handle heavy enough to use closed as striking implement, coating prevents rust, 14C28N keeps a good edge for a long time, easy to re-sharpen, awesome low key pocket clip, thin in the pocket so it doesn't get in the way. It's almost a large leek.
No mention of a thumbstud replacement needed...addresses the larger Leek request above. Steel seems adequate...Just saying...

4. Making these super high speed, but expensive limited editions for the general public instead of the voters at Blade show. Still waiting on a few I saw in 2009.
You mean like Volt's, Speedforms, ZDP Leeks, CB Shallots, 0350CB's, etc...? Introducing multiple new steels and technology to the market...additional stuff like that you mean?

What knives have you been waiting on since 09?

Those are some examples just off the top of my head. I'm sure more could be added.
I'm sure

Why doesn't Kershaw change?
Change how?

Most likely, following the money, the "walmart" knives with the shi**y steel and AO's make all the money for KAI.
You are either ignorant about the products in Wal-Mart or you are trolling, not sure which.
The knives in Wal-Mart are the same as the cataloged items. Same specs, same build. Again, I'm confused.

You don't need to change anything for the fanboys when you've got your "walmart" knives. Just string 'em along.
...just string them along...I don't how to reply to posts that make little sense.

I mean, at least Buck Knives had the cojones to drop those lying strider douches.
Have you ever lied bob7?

Stop acting like some corporate monolith.
What do you mean?

Hey, Thomas, you asked, you shall receive
Ummm, no bob7, I didn't ask. It seems you went way beyond the original CS question.

And this isn't some random troll post.
If you say so bob7

I own two shallots, one Salvo, one NeedWork, and one RAM.

Appreciate it

Pwn3d. :D

That's why I buy Kershaw.

On a side note, all my buddies in my college classes carry Kershaws, they are good boys but have stupid antics that mess up knives. I fix the knives for the guys when they break and order parts from them. I get them in 2-3 days and never have had a question from the warranty department. F'n A++ in my opinion.

So far I haven't dealt with Kershaws customer service, but I've gotta send a 0551 for some lockup issues that I've been procrastinating on. But since im here, how long would it typically take to get it back? Oh yea I forgot to mention that I live in Canada

The sooner you send it in rororo64...:)

I have only experienced Kershaw service twice and both times it was a pleasing experience.

Actually, I have good service from Benchmade, Buck, Leatherman, and Spyderco, too. I really have not had to send very many knives back, especially considering the number of knives that I have owned over the past 20 years. I cannot remember not getting good service.

I had to send in an OD-1 due to a faulty flipper and it was replaced quickly with a new, flawless knife. No complaints here. To compare, I also used a different company's CS to replace 2 faulty folders and things also went just fine. Overall, I have no complaints at all regarding knife companies. There're asshats you can't ever please and I say they'll get what's coming to them.

KAI is A+ in my book.
