Hello Rick and Rob,
I really think it is a shame how you treat your customers and your dealers. You have customers spending all night kissing your backside. It is time people wake up and stop begging for just the opportunity to buy one of your way over priced knives. Jim Howe has figured you guys out. So have a lot of other people. You product although good does not warrant people demeaning themselves and kissing your a---- just to pay grossly inflated prices to buy your out of date knives. I bought one of your knives from Howes and frankly my ZT 0801 and my Spyderco Southard are way better flippers. My ZT 0600 beats your product hands down. I guess it would be ok if you didn't treat your loyal fans so embarrassingly bad.
There is no excuse for keeping your fan club up all night just to hand them a website debacle. I for one have moved on and watching your aftermarket and dealer retail market begin to crumble I think this is the beginning of a well deserved trend. Thanks for the spectacle.
All the Best, Goodby

Haters gonna hate....

Rick and Rob have nothing to do with what people will pay for their product on the aftermarket.

It is their fault there is such a high demand though (they make an in demand product)

Even though I can't afford one now, I Will still support the company

Has anyone even gotten one?
I for one would like to see someone post that they were actually able to buy one... so far nothing.

I'm only guessing, but I bet Rob is having a hard time even accessing the backend of the shopping cart software. If we're not able to access the server, I'm sure he's in the same boat.

The only thing that will fix this is opening up their server to allow more connections or if everyone stops clicking on refresh.

Just a question, why isn't it possible to buy XM 18 on line everytime, certainly because these great products spent a lot of time for each of one, but it would be great.....

Love my XM in any case.....

I was logging in approximately once every 5 seconds at the time the knifes were released. I was able to open the page when it was "inactive" and again 5 seconds later after the knives had sold out. I've subsequently been able to open the page with the sold out knives a few more times.

Would it have potentially made more sense to do some sort of listing through a third-party site with much higher traffic bandwidth? For example doing a few buy-it-now auctions on eBay that are posted at a few times during the day to give those at work or away from their computers a chance.

Either that, or do something like a raffle online with a certain number of winners. Those winners are then enabled to make a purchase through the website or email directly.

Just trying to brainstorm ideas that would allow for public sale without a 'black friday' online stampede which overwhelms the website's capacity. Inevitably, this model leaves people who waited for a chance out in the cold due to the unfortunate luck of having a slower internet connection or running into a crashed domain.

Anyway, good luck to those who get a shot!

They may be all over this already, but somebody needs to get on the phone with Magento and boost the bandwidth for a while until the sale is over. Should be a pretty easy fix. Most providers are able to do something like that.

Probably would have just been better to do a lottery in the future. Everyone signs up that is interested and they announce the X number of winners on FB or here. I'm sure they weren't expecting for us to crash their server.

Well I have to got work now, It was very exciting to spend my night and day on the Hinderer site for a chance. I think I would of had a good one if the 10 minute warning wasn't posted on a public forum, that kinda screwed the diehards that have been hitting the refresh button since last night. But that is no fault but mine, congratulations to all who have got the chance to purchase a knife direct. :)

Why give up +10% in fees to eBay?

Might as well just do it through the forum(s) if their website can't handle the traffic but then it is limited to only forum members whereas their website is for anyone.

Yup, a raffle type system seems like it would be the best and fairest way to handle.

I doubt anyone got one. I think the website is just overwhelmed and they didn't even get a chance to take any orders.

It looks like people are catching a lot of infractions for posting things that don't seem very inflammatory or rude. Not all of them, but I'm seeing a lot of red chiclets underneath posts where I'm scratching my head as to what they did wrong. That kind of moderation can make this forum feel unwelcoming and more like a social club. No offense intended at all, just noticed that and it sort of peeved me. Hopefully I'm not next on the infraction list for this one. Most of the comments (including this one) are directly related to this thread, and while a (very) few are worth infracting, some are just normal comments.

IF someone Really thinks they have proprietary information that the RHK Ranch has either not thought of or Really really needs - Send them an email.
This is NOT the place to comment or editorialize about how they conduct any part of their business - I have asked and asked again.
My patience is running thin. I say again - IF you have a question ask it but keep your opinions to yourself OR go elsewhere.
Not warning again.
