Glad you got it J, I believe Doug has been making these with thicker scales as of late. That was my only isue with the knife. Other than that I think you will feel it handles all the normal chores really well.

I love thin scales. No matter how you stack it, the knife will spend more time on your side than in your hand. I like it to be comfortable as long as the scales don't have hot spots, thin is in.

This is a pretty cool knife. I liked the way it felt in hand. I cut up veggies with it, and used it for EDC chores for the past couple days. I really enjoyed it. Thanks Tony.

hre it is with a SAR warden for size comparison......

Jeff H made up awesome Kydex for it. Retention is great, and it makes the knife super lightweight for EDC:thumbup:

this knife just fits well. I am loving this finger groove thing. Kinda like a Gossman

You can really see that this is a super thin knife, while maintaining alot of utility. I barely noticed it on my belt, and in my pocket. I thought the scales were a little thin, but it really lent to the weight, balance, and utility of the knife.

I really liked this knife. I have been curious about DP knives, and he does great work, a real up and comer in the business:thumbup:

Sorry guys, I'm drowning in work right now with all the damage in Houston, can hardly keep up.

Not going to effect my participation though, Addy sent to Mr. Williams.

Thanks.

Does anybody have cmdr249's address? I sent him an email but he hasn't responded and I need to get this shipped out to him as he's next on list.

If you guys don't mind, I'm going to hold on to the knife for a few days since Doug is sending back my Woodsman in Leopard wood so I can get some comparisons and photos.

Alright sorry for taking so long with this!
I'll be sending out the knife tomorrow to Cmdr249.

Now to the review...

Unfortunately, I was not able to use this knife in real life outdoor situations since I'm in college, so I can only base my review on comfort, design, and a few tasks that it was given.

First off, this knife is very thin with the handles being only about 3/8" thick. I have a decently large hand so it felt a bit small although it's comfortable, small, and well balanced. I like the choil as I feel it gives lots of control, but I'm not too fond of the little ramp in between my pointer and middle finger. I feel that it sometimes gets in the way while using other grips and sometimes my middle finger ends up resting ON it, rather than next to it.

As far as cutting goes, I cut up some limes and it had no trouble giving clean even cuts. I did a few fuzz curls on my wooden desk, but unfortunately no pics. I also did this with no problems, but I will admit that my convexed Woodsman was able to do it much easier. I think Doug made a great choice to start doing Convex on his knives.

I then did some comparison shots with my DPKnives Woodsman. Personally I find the Woodsman to be a bit more comfortable since it has bigger, rounder slabs and no choil in between the pointer and middle finger. They both have similar weight due to the Wilderness having denser wood and both have excellent balance.

Overall the knife is AWESOME and I'm glad I don't have money right now or I'd be sending another Paypal to Doug. The F/F is superb and Doug really did a great job on this. I highly recommend his work and he is a true gentleman.

Thanks so much for the pass-around.

Thanks for the review. That woodsman is awesome. I totally agree on the handle being too thin on that particular knife. I have noticed Doug has remedied that on his newer knives. I also am happy to see Doug doing convex grinds. When I have some cash available I plan on getting 1 or 2.
