I ended up hitting a knot in a piece of a branch....well my dumbass took the back of a hatchet and wacked the spine a couple times and bam there she goes. :(.
I know its my fault but I guess I like to use my knives, even tho theres better tools for the job at hand!
time to save my pennys for another

WHOA. Southard blade is thick but... wow. Guess we shouldn't baton folders with a hatchet. :p RIP... sorry for your loss.

Not saying you shouldn't get another Southard, but maybe also consider a 3V fixed blade for that kinda wood work.
I pounded the hell out of a BRK Bravo Necker 2 last weekend, and well, the blade didn't snap in half :p

You could grind it down into a super-mini-waved-tactical-wharncliffe :p

All joking aside, sorry to see it busted, always sucks man. :(

You had a hatched and decided to split wood with a folder?! Silly started there and escalated beyond words when you decided to batton a knife with the hatchet...

Funny coincidence, you're the second person to break a spydie trying to split wood in 2 weeks. Don't feel bad, buy a new spydie, schempp Tuff maybe, lol.
