damn, broke my southard in 2

Thanks everyone for the comments, this was just one of those oops moments, just figured I'd post for the hell of it, it was cool seeing the inside of the blade, the grains are very small. im sure it was some good heat treating, I never said I wanted/expected a free knife, It was my eff up.
I got some good laughs out of some of the posts. Its not the first time I broke a knife in half, prob wont be my last. but I will definitely take the advice and if I must batton to use a piece of wood.
a couple ppl mentioned sending it in for a lookover, but I didn't want to waste my time or money shipping it there because it was my fault, which I confirmed with mr Glesser that it wouldn't make sense.
anyhow, have a good day/night

You might be able to sell it to someone for parts if you don't go for the stubby Chicago legal look ;)

I'm not getting into the how and why (mental meltdown)...but I do have a near mint Southard blade just sitting around...let me know if you're if your interested.

OP, this has been an interesting thread and it's cool that you owned up to your mistake. Hope you and Youngbld009 can work something out and you can revive your Southard!

You got lucky, hitting two hardened steels together is a recipe for bad things. A few years ago on a geology field trip I saw a couple of college students use the pointy end of a rock hammer to wedge in a cracked rock, and then a second hammer to strike face to face to split it on a field trip in the middle of nowhere. One of the students nearly bled out by the time they got him to the ER from a large spear shaped hunk of that hammer that wedged into the inside of his arm cutting is brachial artery.
