discovered this yesterday:

I haven't seen a doc yet, but i am pretty certain i'm screwed.

I'll need antibiotics, but the thing is i'll be going on a camping trip to Poland soon.

And i don't feel like running in eastern european mountains with a bunch of prescription drugs.

And i don't like antibiotics, i fear they might weaken my system and make me vulnerable to even more sickness.

so now what?

Wait till after the trip to see a doc, go now, go now and explain i'll take the cure afterwards?

Get your ass and the rest of you to an ER so you can start the antibiotics. You want this trip to be the last one you really enjoy?

That's bad. See a doc, take the drugs. Earliest will be the best.

dantzk.

Don't wait! Get anitbiotics now! It's extremely important to get them as soon as possible. Skip the trip and get treatment! Poland will be still there when you have recovered.

DO NOT (DO NOT) underestimate a tickbite/Lyme disease!!

Lyme disease is one you want to catch as early as possible and treat RIGHT NOW! The damage can be terrible if left without treatment but if you catch it early and treat it then it isn't nearly as bad.

"And i don't like antibiotics, i fear they might weaken my system and make me vulnerable to even more sickness. so now what?"

What do you think untreated lyme disease is going to do to your system? Your body is about to get trashed by a bacterial infection that will give you permanent damage in your joints and nervous system. Just give it time and you will be gimped for life, a few weeks of antibiotics and it will be a non-event. Mac (BTW I don't like lawyers but if someone was going to sue me and take everything I had I'd get over it and hire a lawyer)

What are the signs and symptoms of Lyme disease?

The early stage of Lyme disease is usually marked by one or more of these signs and symptoms:

Tiredness
Chills and fever
Headache
Muscle and/or joint pain
Swollen lymph glands
A characteristic skin rash, called erythema migrans
The skin rash is a red circular patch about 2 inches in diameter that appears and expands around the site of the tick bite. The center may clear as it enlarges, resulting in a "bulls-eye" appearance. The rash may be warm, but it usually is not painful or itchy.

Some infected people do not recognize the early symptoms and are diagnosed only after complications occur.

What complications can result from Lyme disease?

Persons who did not have or did not recognize the early symptoms and who did not receive treatment can end up with serious complications:

Arthritis (swelling and pain) in the large joints, which can recur over many years
Nervous system problems, such as numbness, meningitis (fever, stiff neck, and severe headache), and Bell's palsy (paralysis of the facial muscles, usually on one side)
Irregularities of the heart rhythm

And that's why I use lots of deet and clothing treatments to keep those things off of me . What really bites is that you will always have it in your system because it lays dorment. I know guys who have break out every now and again. It's not something you should play with go to the ER right now!!!! Good luck and hope you cure it sooner than later.

Been there done that. At least you have an early stage clear warning mark - I wasn't that lucky but was on it in time. Get your antibiotics asap. 14 days of Tetracycline if I remember correctly. Such a small investment - given the alternative.

allready went to see a doc, but it was on appointment only

visiting hours is in two hours or something, i'll go again later today

i am pretty sure of what it is, three weeks ago i spend time in a forest full of deer, and yeah, i saw ticks.

i am quite tired, but that is just from the weekend, apart from that the only symptom i got right now must be the red spot.

Could be Lyme but it's not obvious it is and it might be an early stage so you're not necessarly screwed and panic won't help anyway but you should see a doctor in no time who will tell you what it is and give you appropriate treatment (actually they'll probably give you a lyme treatment just in case).

If you're treated soon enough, you might get away completly unaffected, but if you don't react it could be life threatening, an uncle of mine nearly passed out because of this (fortunatly he recovered without any major permanent damage).

I've had tons of rashs that look just like that or worse and I am fine. Don't panic, if you have it your not screwed, you caught it very early and a 10 day run of antibiotics and you will be fine. Chris

my best bud had lyme disease for about 5 years untreated he finally went tpo a doc and he's right as rain as for antibiotics just make sure yoy eat alot of ypgurt with them and you'll be ok.

They will test your blood but probably go ahead and put you on the antibiotics just in case. Chris

My wife got Lyme disease about a month ago. It was caught pretty early but it was still a few weeks before she felt right again. The irony is that I'm outdoors a lot more than her, but I have never had it (yet). We think the cat must've brought in a deer tick. I live about a 30 minute drive from Old Lyme, CT (the affliction's namesake), so it's pretty common around here.
