watch out dealing with him-he told me 3 weeks ago he shipped my knife-hasnt returned a call or email since then when all ive asked is if it shipped when he said it did-

i was going to hold off on this but he had the time to show up at bf last night -yet still doesnt have time to tell me wft has happened with my knife-

march 5-6th,sent a email asking if it was close,he didnt answer so i called-he said it would go out the next day-it didnt
about 9 days later i emailed to ask about it to find out if it was lost in the mail,no reply-so i called a few days later,no answer or call back-called about every other day since to find out wtf is going on-still no call back or email to let me know whats going on-

if he can find time to vist blade forums he has the time to call and let me know wtf is going on as far i am concerned-
right now all i want is my money back-he even posted pics after the supposed ship date and said it would be shipping-that was 10 days ago

I have had the totally opposite experience with Daniel ! I found him excellent to deal with , responded to my emails within 24hrs . I don`t know exactly what has happened here Rosconey . But from my experience Daniel has gone above and beyond when it came to Customer service !!

I will say that it took me longer to ship this blade due to a computer hard drive going down and me in the hospital for a week... sorry I got sick, anyways I shipped your knife already and should be there today.... if not then tomorrow... and this is more than a 300 dollar blade...... and btw,,,,,, I am done taking orders from people...at this time..... tired of this crap..... and me selling my blades for cheaper than what I should....

i paid 400 not 300-

and all it would have taken was some simple comunication on your end when you didnt ship when you said you would-i thinks thats pretty plain and simple-

no conunication is bad -i didnt enjoy waiting 3 weeks wondering if it was lost stolen or hadnt shipped-when i dont hear anything i tend to get as mad as the next guy

it looks to me since you started to comunicate after i posted in gbu that gbu works

Daniel,

1. Really good looking knife that you have there, work is coming along nicely.

2. Communications with your customers, orders or not is key. ESPECIALLY when you are holding someone else's money.

3. Sick or not, communications is key. I jumped right down the throat of a maker who was holding my money, and not communicating, who turned out to have a major lung disease, and was in the hospital. Have your wife/child/brother/mother contact your customers, indicating that something has come up, and all orders will be delayed until further notice, then follow up when healthy.

4. If you are going to stop taking orders, that is your choice, but it is not going to help you sell more knives if the communication does not improve. There is no second chance to make a first impression.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Hey Daniel don`t do something rash like that , cmon mate don`t let one bad deal get you down . I`m sure all the great makers before you copped a bit of stick in their younger days ! Keep your chin up mate

Hope your feeling better bro ! :)

Daniel, a talented man like you owes it to the knife public to continue.A fair price for such a knife is in Belgium at least 500$.Tomorrow is another day,God bless you.

Sounds like Dan needs to get his shit sorted out before he sells to the public anymore. Poor coms and slow shipping will make your customers unhappy even if you do make a good product.

How hard is it to return an e-mail once in a while? That is part of doing business. Taking the money and making the knife are not all there is to it. You need to ship it in a timely manner and keep in contact with the buyer or you will be just another ex-custom knife maker left of the side of the road. There is too much competition for people to put up with poor customer service.

I TRULY HOPE YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS ABOUT THIS??? You jumped down his throat before knowing the details??
The man was in the HOSPITAL!! People get sick, accidents happen, life takes ridiculous and unavoidable turns.

PRIORITIES!!!

You can live without your knife for a little while. Its just a piece of steel. Give a man the benifit of the doubt for christ sakes. NOBODY knows my business but me. My kids are too little, my mother is a senior citizen that lives 400 miles away, and my wife couldn't possibly contact my customers for me. She wouldn't know where to begin, nor would she be in any frame of mind to if I was in the hospital, again! This actually just happened to me recently, so that comment really hits home. I'm pretty sure she'd be worried about me, the kids, the bills, taking care of the house, HER job, etc.

Do you think a maker's world revolves around your knife? Get real.

Customers who think like this are half the reason I'm contemplating stopping taking orders myself. Looks like I'm not alone either.

Respectfully, with an attitude like that you should stop taking orders. You're just gonna piss off someone who wants to know about their order or why it wasn't shipped when you miscommunicated it would be.:(

You might not care about your customers knives but they sure do. It's nice to know your opinion beforehand though so a person can move on to a maker who can communicate with the people paying their bills and not get pissy about it.

I never said don't communicate. I said if a maker doesn't get right back to you maybe (and probably) there's a good reason!

Most people don't just foolishly hand their cash over to someone before knowing something about them, their work, and their rep. If you trusted him enough to give him your money, give the man the benifit of the doubt. He may just have something a little more pressing going on at the moment.

I do care about my customer's knives, by the way, to the point its made me sick about being just a week late.

Thank you, though. You just helped me make up my mind.

You're welcome but I think you already had your mind made up when you asked the question. The key, like Kohai999 said, is communication. This thread was about someone who hadn't communicated in a couple of weeks and misrepresented when the knife was shipped. Perhaps you shouldn't have asked your question on the butt end of this thread like rosconey was the one at fault for not being infinately patient with someone who was on the forum and still not answering emails and such about an order that was supposedly shipped a while ago? It's hard to know the details with no communication.

If someone had time to spend on BF forums, they certainly had time to send an email about order status.

I was speaking in general terms, not specifically to the maker or the situation at hand.
Threads have a way of getting off course.

Point taken.
