I work with guys in their 20s and 30s who think they have bragging rights because they have made it that far. I tell them I have been on the job longer than they have been on this planet, I have bragging rights . AND to keep this knife related, I am sharper than they are too 🤣. The geezer shoots, he scores.

Probably because it hasn't been used. You have been. I'd rather be used up than rot from disuse. That's one of the reasons I like carbon steel.... it shows that a knife is being used, as they should be.
I don't want my epitaph to be "I was a great safe-queen" 😁
Yes, I had the same thought about the 'age vs. mileage' aspect. That knife has quite literally been a safe queen since I've had it (less than 10 years or so). But I'm still sort of amazed that any such knife, having existed for nearly 60 years or more, has gone essentially un-scuffed all that time.

A few years ago, my Dad & I had gone to the store for a grocery run. I was in my late 50s at the time, and he in his late 80s. My Dad & I shared a lot of similarities in our general appearance, both genetically and in our choice of haircuts, clothing styles, etc. A lady in the store looked at us and smiled, and mentioned how similar we looked to one another. As we turned and walked away, I joked to my Dad that I was tempted to tell her we were actually twins, but one of us had led a much harder life. That made my Dad laugh. :)

I just looked it up. I joined this forum back in 2010. I was 32, now I 44 and will be 45 in 13 days.
When you joined BF 12 years ago at age 32, your next birthday would indicate that your age had increased by 1 year out of 32, or 3.125%.
But your birthday coming up in less than 2 weeks will indicate that your age increased by 1 year out of 44, or 2.273%.
So look at the bright side - your aging is slowing down!!:thumbsup:🤓
(My birthday later this month will show that my age increased by 1 year out of 70, or 1.429%; I'm hardly aging at all these days, so I got that going for me!)

Mine to! That table is in the barn where I work, it was originally for the goats to climb on. But now they're to old so its more a scratching sot nowadays.
Okay, well the goat table is just fine then.

One day we came home to find this on our dining room table (taken when half-a-megapixel cell phone cameras sucked). That she passed away in 2016 at 16 years old is still sad. Best Dog Ever. Why do we get pets that can't last as long as we do?

DocJekl DocJekl Looks like this is the only answer....

Not very cuddly mind, nor responsive, takes up a fair bit of room and will need hibernating in cold climes, but a tortoise like that can outlive everybody, SIX generations :poop: the stories he can't tell....

Tidy number of knife handles Jonathan could provide though...Lot of old types in the Old age Home round the corner look a deal like those Tortoises...is this what we've got to look forward to???

I have an elderly rabbit that is 12 years old now. He is completely blind and constantly dozes off in all kinds of strange positions, like with his face in his food bowl, or half-in/half-out of his cage (he is not confined there). He moved right as I took this picture, but now he is in his cage eating, and I can’t get a better one:

He only ever urinates in his cage or on the old bath mat I have placed in front of it for that purpose, and mostly only poops there, but he seems to have less control over that…

So I should feel pretty good about aging 1.234568 % this year ????? It felt like a lot bigger percent to me Gary . Every 2 years Aches and Pains are squared at that rate, but that does not hold true for every year .
