Danny Collection is here...

I was preoccupied with shooting a sporting clays tournament during this drop so I missed out. That Vanquard is sweet but I really wish I would have gotten that 110.

Fortunately there is NO rust on the Danny Damasteel Vantage, or should I say Dannysteel? It seems impossible for me to capture the deep dark blue scale color on my iPhone 14 Pro Max camera, and Damasteel is so smooth that the sharp lines IRL look blurry in photos.

Unfortunately, I had to loosen the pivot to get the blade to flip, and lost centering doing that. So, I'll have to remove the pocket clip to loosen all of the scale screws and then shove a folded business card into the knife before I re-tighten the pivot and scales again to see if it centers.

I was actually thinking of changing my mind and getting one of those, but they are sold out now. So the decision was made for me and I can save my money. Whew, that was a close one!

Sorry, I pounced the first day I saw them because I have a Curtiss Custom with Damasteel, and a Benchmade Gold Class Oeser Tengu Flipper with Damasteel, and it's just such a beautiful steel to hold and to look at.

PS: My Buck Sprint Pro 841 with CF scales and S45VN steel is a MUCH better EDC, with excellent and fast flipper action and slick closing action, and feels like a $400 Hinderer when operating it and closing it, it's just the scales can flex if you squeeze them, so not as tough. This Dannysteel Vantage is more of a collection piece or to show off the steel, and the deep indigo paper-micarta-like scales are cool in person.

The two pics with the watch in them show off the blue scale color much better!

Well, just wanted to post a quick update for those that had wondered about the 932 I was able to snag from the drop. I had posted pictures of it back shortly after receiving it.

Buck customer service was top notch. I originally received the knife with grind marks on the white turquoise portion. Buck immediately sent a prepaid shipping label and had the knife back to me in under 1 week. I was pretty impressed with the quick turnaround.

Upon receiving the knife back, there were heavy scratches on the front guard portion of the knife. I contacted Buck again and they again offered a prepaid label to return the knife. After speaking with a rep, I requested a refund, which was processed. Disappointed that I didn't end up with what would have easily been the most exclusive knife in my collection, but after the second time, it just left me a little deflated and with the feeling that I had damaged goods.

Funny, really, because I am sure throughout the custom making process these things happen in house multiple times and are immediately worked out/buffed out and its all part of the making process. Being on the consumer receiving end though, it was a little deflating to see it make it to me twice with pretty obvious defects for a collector knife.

Regardless, Buck handled the situation very promptly and I commend them for the great customer service. Thank you!

That's an unfortunate outcome.

I wonder what will happen to that knife now? With those scuffs polished out, it would make a very nice knife for someone else.

Agreed and I wondered that too.

Like I mentioned, I would guess that's a common happening throughout the making process. I just wouldn't expect it to make it to the buyer (twice) looking like that. After the second time I didn't trust myself to be able to put it in my hutch on display without nit-picking. And to me, that takes the enjoyment away.

Again, the way Buck handled everything was first-class customer service!
