Dario doesn't understand that "Your word is your life". Perhaps he is counting on the local mafia to protect him. They know if he is valuable or trash, and will act accordingly. I don't think that they are too impressed with him, at this point.

Not what I was saying at all. It’s the internet though so confusion and misunderstandings happen. Mentioning the mafia seems ridiculous to me. I have italian heritage in my family and those type of stereotypes are unnecessary and offensive.
We don't know why Darrex / Dario is choosing to be dishonorable. Let’s not stoop to that level by making veiled threats. He is slooooowly coming around.
Obviously there’s some issues in his life we are not aware of. The public embarrassment and shaming is having a negative affect that’s pushing him to act.
All of us want to be considered honorable. I think even he wants that. Let’s stay there and work to bring him back to our level if possible but not lower our standards to his level.

There is also a stereotype for those that flagrantly abuse the trust of others. They should be made aware of the potential downside of their actions. Whether it's shame or fear that causes them to repent and change, something needs to motivate them.
I agree that we don't know all the circumstances, and everyone deserves a second chance. In this case it is particularly abhorrent, that a fellow knife enthusiast would would steal something that has sentimental value to another club member. A peaceful resolution to this drama would be a welcome ending for knife enthusiasts everywhere.

Dario lives in Sicily, but it is still part of Italy.

This Sicilian city has less than 55,000 residents, and I'm sure that everyone is somehow "connected" to persons of influence. Law enforcement might help, but just like here in Brazil, they are probably severely underpaid. If a clandestine agreement was made with someone influential, they could politely ask Dario to return the knives, with kind words and no violence. The problem could be solved, but some small favor would need to be exchanged. Unfortunately nothing is free, and often one needs to spend more money to get results.
