We've come full circle, here. I'm not going to get into it again. It was foolish of me to start. For that, I am sorry.

I liked the show with Dave and Cody. Haven't met anyone in the Army in the last 14 years (I'm still active) that didn't lie about their experiences whether it is to tell a better story or make themselves sound tougher.

People are discounting him because he's a lying scumbag who stole valor from Army Rangers and took food out of the mouths of widows and orphans whose fathers actually earned that right.

I don't get how that works, if the fellow has a widow and his children are orphans, that would make him dead, right ?
Then chances are he would not get a job on dual survival anyway, being dead and all.
Or am I understanding it wrong. It sound pretty cool and dramatic, it just does not make any sense at all???

I meant he was stealing valor from dead Rangers (hence the orphans and widows) and stealing the job from real Rangers (who aren't dead... ). I worded it wrong. :o

ERB's and NCOER'S have multiple purposes, Gray. There's also the CSM. The "Long story short version" goes like this...

E-7 was selected for E-8. Deploys to Afghanistan. CSM pulls ERB to check background. E-7 recalled back. I replace him and pull 54 week deployment. E-7 that had been selected for E-8 is demoted all the way down to E-1, gets chaptered out of the Army with ZERO benefits and no pension. Only reason Leavenworth was avoided? To get him out of thr Army faster.

Magnanimous -

There are others out there that owe Rangers and the Brotherhood an apology for stealing their valor as well. But this thread ain't about that, so we'll both agree to let the sleeping dog lie, won't we? ;)

Fair enough, but Dave Canterbury was a very vocal, very public figure. In my opinion, that makes him different. He made probably tens of thousands, heck maybe hundreds of thousands off of his web of lies.

To Gray: I know who you're talking about. Special Operations guys tend to do the exact opposite. They *downplay* what they do, if they tell you, at all.

I have no qualms about Canterbury embellishing things on his resume. He does not even have to apologize in my book. What does bother me is politics I could go on and on about things. Why are people so hung up on people using steroids and other drugs in sports?! If using steroids means I can make 5 million dollars a year vs. not doing steroids and making virtually nothing of course people are going to do steroids! I would. Sports is entertainment. TV entertainment. Politics? Scares me! Affects my life! It is NOT entertainment. It is reality.

I guess, I am trying to say, have priorities and put things in perspective.

And Mr. Canterbury, I hope someone puts you back on the air. I enjoy your personality and knowledge.
