Not finding brands I don’t have yet interesting so trying to decide if I expand within the brands I have or wait until something really inspires me. about a third of my collection is actively carried and used lightly. I have about 7 that I reserve for heavy use and abuse. I’m sure every collector has a moment like this when you kind of hit a wall in terms of what next. Been leaning towards adding a few traditionals maybe? Would welcome suggestions to add to this…

Take a look at Pro Tech
Pro Tech is a great brand. Although I have a few automatics, I’m not that keen on them. But their engraved ones are nothing short of perfection but way above my willingness to spend $$$$$$ on. The Pro Tech Cambria is one I’ve had an eye on but sort of resembles my hinderers in a lot of respects

I wish I had the initiative to catalog my collection like that.....but I do not.
However, it is kind of fun rediscovering knives I bought long ago and forgot.

I think if I didn’t start it soon after I first started collecting I wouldn’t have bothered going back to look up all the specs and what I paid. Also during the working from home phase of the whole covid shutdown provided time for the distraction

That's funny. I used to do this, keep note of everything guns, knives,
Watches and flashlights on separate sheets, cataloged. Then i realized if I just keep pictures in my gallery, since I'm going to share them online anyway, and name each picture with the brand, model, and steel type is basically the same thing. So i deleted all of my catalogs. In the end I figured there's no need for any further specifics than that, seeing as how the tech specs can be found online pretty much forever, as knife center and blade HQ keep everything online and never remove even after they're discontinued or sold out. So i always have my reference point for that info. Eh... it was fun to make the sheets though and peruse thru them from time to time.

I track maker, model, materials, date acquired/sold, price in/out, some additional details(typically links to the sales/WIP posts from the maker, # produced, etc).
Not bad to do with a focused collection of Customs - some of the guys who have 100-200 productions I imagine it would be pretty taxing to go through the process the first time.
