Hey fellas, I never post negative feedback but this one takes the cake. I'll be quick....avoid unless you want a headache. This didn't ruin my day or anything...just don't want our good members having to deal with this.

As you guys know, I'm just about one the easiest guys to deal with. Always willing to give a deal and work with anyone. Sometimes...you just get those people that are obnoxious. I'm sure this guy is a nice fella, but this crap is annoying as hell.

Posted a VR71 a while back: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-Spyderco-Lionspy-PRICE-DROPS!?highlight=vr71

*Checked the thread and saw "sent you a PM" then also saw "I'll take it"
*Received an email from this guy...with two other email address listed. Responded to the original.
*Sent two follow up emails to Merz, but he proceeded to use the thread as a means of communication...not email.
*Finally got a response from another email address he listed.
*Proceeded to question the validity of my claim "LNIB."
*Asked if I think he should buy it and if I like it.
*Asked why I'm selling it among other stuff.
*Finally agreed to send pmt even though he already claimed it. Proceeded to tell me he would be sending over $185 because his girlfriend needed money and he is trying to avoid a fight.
*I reiterate/explain my asking price of $190NET (I have steered away from the NET crap, but this is how I listed this one to soften the blow).
*Proceeds to stiff me, I get $184
*Follow up with him and he agrees to send me another $6 in which he sends $4
*I follow up again and he responds that he will send the final payment later when he has the money.
*I package knife up and it is ready to go.
*I get a barrage of emails at 5AM asking for a refund, basically saying I'm not competitive with Amazon prices.
*Money refunded after having my first cup of coffee this morning. Was thinking about adding something more stiff to the coffee.

Goes by "merz" on the forum

Received 30+ emails from 3 different addresses on this stupid time wasting experience:

Jeeez..

I'm pretty sure there's something in the rules that says don't post "I'll take it" unless you have full intentions of taking it.

Thanks for the heads up. It's probably best that his money was refunded, who knows what kind of bs you would've had to deal with once he received the knife.

Most annoying thing about this is...as nearly everyone has done at some point...I bought something after getting the paypal funds. After receiving the funds I ordered a custom Haley Strategic holster. Probably would have held off until I sold something else. Gah.

Live and learn.

Yes, this kind of stuff can be irritating. I am beginning to learn that when a buyer starts all the questions and what not - especially after they say I'll take it..........it's probably smart to stop the deal with them. Too many headaches are happening here lately with flaky people.

I've delt with these types in the past myself. They make you wish you had never delt with them. Thanks for the heads up. Ignore list just grew again.

lmao so this guy tried hard just to save 1 or 2 dollars and then backed out? op should have clearly terminated the conversation early in the game.

Agreed on terminating sooner next time! My reasoning was to give the newbie a free pass....but it just got out of hand.

If the buyer sends the wrong amount of money, it's best just to issue an immediate refund, realizing that they are too complicated to deal with. Also, forget all this net pricing business, and just give the buyer one choice, with one simple all inclusive price. It will give them less wiggle room to manipulate you.

Why people just can't complete a simple transaction without the drama anymore is amazing. The individuals that sell stuff on here are not stores, (at least they better not be and flippers that buy things they don't want to simply make a buck are a different topic) and the price is the price. If you want a deal, ask, nicely if you can negotiate amicably with tact and respect. Otherwise, don't waste people's time. As simple as that is, there are a great number of thick headed people that simply cannot process such a simple concept. This is a good reason in my opinion to bar people from the Exchange.

Are you volunteering for some OT :D

I've read through many threads in here that ended bad but didn't result in a ban (not implying this deserves that). I'm sure there's been some behind the scenes discussions that came to the conclusion not to ban people in those instances, but restriction from the exchange, whether it be temporary or permanent, sounds like a good alternative. Might be more of a headache than what it's worth for you guys though.

Ok ok hold up check it out sent PB $190 what he was asking then he said i need to send him $.581 more , i only hade $4 left on card so i sent that, then he starts asking when can you send the rest asked me 3 times mind you were talking bout $1.58 and i already gave him $4 more, but i say no problem ill send it first thing in mourning. So if I'm understanding correctly you shorted him $5.81 so he asks for the rest of his money that you agreed to pay and then you only send $4 instead of the full $5.81 then you get aggravated that he wants the rest of his money? So then you get mad because he won't let you cheat him out of the money that you still owe him? When you agreed to buy by stating you would take it you agreed to a verbal contract. Pay the man what you agreed to pay and receive your new knife like you agreed. Finding one later at a better deal is just tough luck on your part. It's happened to me before but oh well that's just how the ball bounces.

I agree. One email to ask if it was a typo, then refund and done.

I agree, although I'll give Merz the benefit of the doubt and assume that the "net to me" played a part in the initial problem, it's still wrong to back out because you found a better deal afterwards. You should've done you're research before you agreed to buy it.

I don't post often, but have been on BF for quite a while. My lack of posts doesn't relate to lack of experience!

Merz, as a consumer in general, you should always use due diligence and price shop for an item before you agree to purchase the item. Unfortunately, we have all had this type of life lesson from time to time. No need to call the OP "lame" because you changed your mind after the deal was agreed to.
