Darn it, I don't have a BAS, now I want one. Big surprise. This ain't right.

Present day Gurkhas carry them, bawanna needs one for sure.

I agree you won't find any convex edges in the HI showroom. None I've ever heard of anyhow.

Yes, Horn is the norm that I've seen on the BAS lately (the past 2-3 years), but there have been wood handles as well.

Ram Kumar is a new kami, but he is highly skilled, very creative, and fast becoming a fan favorite.
 
Thanks Cul, Bawanna that is certainly good to know re Ram Kumar. I would really appreciate seeing a couple of examples of his work if it's ok to ask in this thread...I know this is a blems thread and all...

Then again I guess any bladesmith that works for HI is worth betting the farm on.
 
You nailed it Amko. They seem to only keep the ones with talent around. No slouches in the bunch.

He has been putting out a lot of work lately. It all looks good. My BAS is by him.
If you look at the sales threads in the last few months there are a lot of Ram Kumar.
 
I had to recently ask as I was confused myself. (big surprise I know). There's actually two Kumars. Ram is a young new Kami with major talent, Raj Kumar has been around a long time and usually makes the large knives and swords etc lately.
If I understood right, she usually just calls him Kumar, Ram will usually be referred to as Ram Kumar. I don't know how she keeps it straight.
Raj's mark is the 6 pointed star kind of deal we see a lot. I'm drawing a blank of Ram's mark, I'll have to look.
Ram's mark is a leaf. I have a couple of his now that I know that. I was think Anil but they are Ram.
I hope I got all this right.

Kumars mark is the 6 point star. Raj is 2 mountains, I think.
 
That's right Raj Kumar is the mountains, he used to be the prince and I have several of his knives but he's no longer around.

So we have a Kumar with the 6 point star and another Ram Kumar with the leaf. So now I don't know what Kumar first name is, I know it's not Raj. Pass the Advil, now I got a headache.
