NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not a Falcata!

If I even thought they would make these again....

As a Celt, I *must* have one of these... The Falcata is the Celtic grandfather of the modern day khukuri....

Only one previous knife with that cho that Mike got I think in the form of a BAS.

Yup. Norm, you have a great memory. I love my tri-holed cho BAS. Pointy sucker, and one-of-a-kind, until today... Great for throwing, obviously. Mine is zeroed for 5, 10 and 15 yards. :foot:

and no, I'm not getting over that falcata anytime soon.

that was like seeing a UFO. I still can't believe it. Sincere congrats to whomever got it... and please post some closeups...

and Nasty?

that thing about having a Falcata owners forum....

that really hurt. :foot:

I didn't think we'd see more Falcatas, ever. This gives me hope. Yeah, I missed this one, but if they made one they'll probably make more. I've got my credit card ready.

Nearly identical...right down to the cracked handle. I think every one of the handles crack...has to do with the grain and shrinkage.

Mine might be an ounce or two heavier...blade might be a touch wider...top band, cross band and tip on my scabbard are engraved, figures are different (but I think they all were), guard is a touch less pointy to the rear and mine has three pins instead of four.

I would of course, take low quality, poorly lighted and totally amaturish pictures of it is anyone were to say "Pretty please with sugar on it".

BTW...I was wrong...Ferrous's also had the wooden scabbard but it had shrunken badly and hte panals were loose. Don't know why I thought it was leather...

HI Falcata's have been rare. Yangdu will see this and hopefully alert the Kamis.

Wonder if it was new or old stock? Remember a plain YCS made by Kesar? Showed up a while back too

I can't believe I got this.

When I saw the picture on the website I remember looking at it and figuring it was a custom item and thinking I'd never get a chance at one. I surely didn't expect to see it on a DOTD...

Expect a twin to post within a week. I don't think I've purchased anything previously rare or unique without one or two more popping up shortly afterward...which is cool, because common experiences are more interesting than just having something.

Of course this was nowhere near within budget, and I wan't even going to look because I've had a busy month, but there was just this feeling about today (it came in the shape of a horn-handled village pen knife with steel fittings). I could stand to use a few pounds anyway.

That makes about 50 of us...

You are wasting your time here; with your luck you should be in Vegas. ;)

Sadly, I have the world's worst luck at gambling. :(

I only manage to get a couple of these here and there because I'm used to typing in a state of complete panic and chaos...

You work for the government too, eh?

Congrats and welcome to a very exclusive club...

That is exactly what I thought about Nasty when he first got here.

Great to see another special item remade with the falcata. I also have one, by some miracle the handle hasn't cracked yet. The Chainpuri also looks great. Drgn Flame, if you got it then you shouldn't be disappointed.

Wow, talk about a good memory Hollow! That's right, an unfullered YCS with flat spine by Kesar with satisal handle. Uncle Bill called it a "Lal special." I was able to snag it and it is an interesting companion piece to the YCS's, and the only Kesar I own.

Norm.

Sassas, don't mind me, I'm just being a jealous SOB. :o "Chance favors the prepared mind", and you are prepared at the right time with the will to exercise it and not temporize or overanalyze. "Analysis paralysis" is a very real phenomenon, and I don't know how many times my subconcious has had me stare at the screen in an agony of indecision while minutes ticked away and I was outsharked by more decisive individuals!

Having a good quick eye and a tiny bit of luck helps as well, but you have made too many outstanding choices in a short time to be written off as merely lucky.

I was the same way for the first few months and many thousands of dollars, but now I slow down and consider little details such as how I will actually _pay_ for things and it is killing my sharkly instincts! :D

Congrats on another great snag; in fact, by far your best yet. You had better post pics of this when you get it, esp. the scabbard carving, or you will have a bunch of PO'd forumites on hand.

For that matter both this one and that great Sher special were exceptional today, so I hope whoever got that one will also let us know. (Let me guess, you got that one too?! ;) )

Regards,

Norm

Yeah, you and 4 million other people! :D I don't care what they say about Gov't work, it can't be more screwed up or disorganized than my current company, and the hours and pay are probably better as well...

:o

[SIGH] Once I knew the falcata was going to break the seal... (I was really dead set on holding out for a village Pen and village BGRS). I never would have thought a falcata would show up like that.

I wandered a bit and picked up a couple off the Exchange a little while back (18" Chiruwa WWII and an M43) which didn't help my financial planning. I wanted to get a couple older khukuris, which seem to have had a liitle more weight per inch than the models since I've been active.

It really hurt to pass on that carved handled YCS...especially since I have a pair of kardas that would have matched it perfectly and more especialy since I got one a few days before. So, expect the next Falcata to be available in a couple days and be a couple inches longer a few onces heavier and have an uncracked carved african blackwood handle and platinum fittings (with a platinum and rhinocerous horn sheath). :)

I also was pretty proud of myself for not getting the Vishwa Karma.
